DEDICATION This research study is dedicated to my late grandmother by sdsdfqw21

This research study is dedicated to my late grandmother Mrs. Margaret Zondi who
prayed for my prosperity in education. She believed that “the sky is the limit”. It is
also dedicated to my son, Teboho and daughter, Noluthando who were so lovingly
patient while Mamma studied.

A year of sacrifice, compromise, hard work and sleepless nights have finally
culminated in the completion of this dissertation. Accordingly, I would like to
express my personal gratitude and appreciation to the following people for their
support without which this study would not have been possible.

• Professor J.R.Debeila my supervisor for the support, patience, encouragement,
understanding and guidance during the course of this study.

• Mrs. N.N. Ngwenya, my principal at Khaselihle Public school for the support,
guidance, typing, encouragement and understanding during the course of the
study. My deputy principal, Mr. Koboekai, head of departments and colleagues
for their support and contribution, and Meisie and Elsie for typing.

• The school principals in Kagiso, teachers, parents and learners involved in the
study for their willingness to share their experiences, beliefs and views and
allowing me to learn from their participation in the study.

• Joyce Sitemele at Rau, for typing and organizing my work. Thank you.

• My husband Lerato, thank you, for believing in me, for holding me up when I
was about to fall down. Sometimes you had to cook and wash the dishes
    when I couldn’t.

• My dear parents Fana and Ntombikazi Zondi, brother Ziphozonke and sisters
Hlengiwe and Sanelisiwe thank you, your support is appreciated.

• My two lovely kids Teboho and Noluthando, thank you for understanding and
for helping me with the computer.

                        Above all

Praise the Lord, Oh my Soul, All my being praise His Holy Name (Psalm 103), for
He is the one who gave me the ability and courage to persevere throughout even in
sickness, He strengthened me to reach my destination.
