Benalmadena is situated on the southern coast of Spain, 15 minutes drive west of Malaga between Mijas and Torremolinos. Benalmadena is made up of 3 areas each offering something different, but together making this a fantastic holiday destination for all the family on the Costa del Sol. Benalmádena Pueblo Benalmadena Pueblo is a traditional Andalucian village on the Costa del Sol, with narrow cobbled streets and white washed buildings. The focal point for the village is the pretty church which is lit up at night. Set in an elevated position the Church overlooks Benalmadena Costa and the Mediterranean sea. Despite the influx of foreigners and the amount of building work that has taken place in recent years the Pueblo has managed to retain its traditional charm, and in my opinion is what makes Benalmadena special. Benalmadena Arroyo de la Miel This is the busy commercial town centre, separating Benalmadena Pueblo on the hill from the sea -front. Arroyo has grown rapidly, due greatly to the excellent train service running between Fuengirola and Malaga. Its also worth mentioning that from Malaga it is now possible to reach Madrid in 2.5 hours, using the high speed line which was only completed in 2008. Benalmádena Costa The Costa is the main tourist area with its nine kilometres of golden sandy beaches. It has an award winning marina with excellent port facilities, fantastic nightlife and a fabulous Aquarium. The marina was voted the best in the world by International Property Magazine in 1995, which is no surprise as it has an excellent choice of luxury accommodation, restaurants, bars and port facilities.
