									MINISTRY DESCRIPTION FOR YOUTH BELL CHOIR DIRECTOR
PEACE LUTHERAN CHURCH

I. GENERAL
   The Youth Bell Choir Director at Peace Lutheran Church will have the responsibility
   of directing the Handchimes and Youth Bells Choirs from August 25th, 2010 through
   April 27, 2011. The salary will be based on experience and qualifications. The Youth
   Bells Director will be accountable to the Director of Worship and Music and will
   work in partnership with the Music Ministry Team.

II REQUIREMENTS
   The Youth Bells Director should have musical education, training, and/or experience
   pertinent to directing a handchime and bell choir. The Director should be able to relate
   easily with children and be able to build an atmosphere of caring among the choirs.
   The Director should have an appreciation for both traditional and contemporary bell
   music, and an understanding of the Lutheran witness to the Gospel.

III. SPECIFIC
     The Director will:
     - Conduct weekly 30-minute rehearsals (currently Wednesday evenings)
     - Prepare the choirs to play every 5-6 weeks for various worship services that will
        include one Saturday 5:30 worship service during the year.
     - Attend 2-3 Music Team planning meetings per year
     - Work closely with the Director of Music and Worship to select music appropriate
        to the church season consistent with our Lutheran heritage.
     - Have shared desk space available in the Music Room for planning
     - Have control over the budget for the Youth Bell supplies
     - Maintain a Music Inventory list.

IV This ministry description includes but is not limited to the above duties. It is
   reasonable to expect that this ministry description may change from time to time.
