The Financial Model Your team’s earnings constitute 15% of your final grade. If, at the end of the semester, you obtain the class average for earnings, you are guaranteed a minimum of 7.5%* toward your final grade. The team with the highest earnings may earn the full 15%*. This class meets 15 times this semester: January 11, 18, 25, February 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, March 7, 14, 28, April 4, 11, 18 & finals week. Each team starts with $2000. Your team’s operating cost is $550 per class meeting applied just prior to the class meeting (excluding today). Your team’s current financial standing will be calculated and presented at the start of every class (You are responsible for double-checking the accuracy of the numbers at that time). Money awarded during class and during the week are applied to the financial standing presented at the start of class in the next week. So, if your total at the start of class is negative, you are considered as operating in the red for that week*. How do you earn money as a team? 1.) Each week, three essays will be selected based on responses to the readings. Each of these essays is worth $100 for your team. An individual may not earn this two weeks in a row. 2.) Requests for Proposals will be issued several times this semester, with a total value over the course of the semester in excess of $10,000 (yes, we are being elusive as to the total amount). Submitting the winning proposal will generate funds. * Each week spent operating in the red results in the loss of 1% of the final grade.
