Why does the job exist? This statement should encapsulate the overall significance of the job from WVA’s point of view.
The Grants team is a core contributor to the WVA Strategic Objective to ‘grow funding from Australian
government and multilateral organisations’, through being accountable for the development and
implementation of the WVA Grants Strategy. The team will proactively pursue prioritised funding
opportunities that will advance relevant WVA and partner-office strategies, while building the in-Australia and
partner processes and capacities to support successful bid- and grant-management. The role will therefore
involve responsibilities relating to strategy, process improvement, change management, business development
and relationships management, and project leadership and management.

Qualifications / Essential
Memberships Bachelors degree in an appropriate discipline (e.g. social sciences, development

Understanding of process and requirements of tendering and tender responses

Five+ years management experience
Five+ years management of program funding, including from bilateral and
multilateral funding bodies.
Demonstrable experience in public presentations and networking
Experience working in cross-cultural settings
Demonstrated prior success in successfully tendering for, negotiating, and managing
funding contracts, including experience preparing high-quality project and program
design documents, consultancy contracts, tender responses.
Above work experience includes experience working with AusAID/the Australian
Government, and/or within the international development sector.
Experience living in developing countries and working with local in-country partners.
