The story of the Jeep Grand Cherokee began in 1983, as engineers for American
Motors (AMC) set about designing a successor to the existing smaller vehicle that
was the Jeep Cherokee (XJ). The AMC commissioned three designers - Larry Shinoda,
Adam Clenet and Giorgetto Giugaro - to create a clay template of the model to replace
it (this would be referred to as the "XJC" project). The Jeep Concept 1 of 1989 would
foretell the basic design. It was the first jeep vehicle from Chrysler, and it first came
to the attention of the public at the 1992 North American International Auto Show in
Detroit, Michigan.

The 2005-2007 Grand Cherokee Jeep has a more angular look and advanced
technology. Its main problems were poor tarcking and glass sticking among other
problems. The electronic rear and front differentials lock and unlock quickly. The
engine choices range from mild to wild, with the HEMI engine topping the charts at
320 Horsepower. It only costs a couple of miles per gallon over the 3. 7 liter V6 and 4.
7 liter V8 engines, but has better responses. In 2007, the Cherokee 2007 came with a
diesel engine option for customers, giving it quite a new level of speed, and improved
mileage.

A variety of engines apply to Jeep Grand Cherokees. For example, the SRT-8 model
could have a 6. 1 L Hemi V8, with 425 hp and 420lb / ft of torque. Compare this to
the 4. 7 L PowerTech V8 (265 hp, 305lb / ft) for the Laredo / Limited model or the 3.
0 L OM642 V6 (215 hp / 376lb / ft) for the Laredo, Limited and Overland models.

The Grand Jeep Cherokee offers clear visibility in all directions. Equipped with
satellite capabilities, the 2007 model has powerful headlights, the driver has the
option to activate manual or automatic mode. The Cherokee has good mirrors as well.
The instruments are well calibrated and easy to read. They are also visible at night.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee oozes luxury. Many changes have been made since its
debut in 1983. It is much better than the Grand Jeep Wagoneer. However, the
Cherokee is still available in standard designs - listed as a 4-door SUV, a 4x4 and a
sports utility vehicle. A predecessor to the Jeep Grand Wagoneer, its layout is front
engine and rear-wheel or four-wheel drive.
The 2009 model of the Jeep Grand Cherokee is equipped with powerful features.
Improved engine capacity, fuel efficiency and rear wheel drive. A full leather wrapped
dashboard, real wooded interior and heated steering gives it a comfortable
environment. In my opinion this jeep is a wonderful invention in the Chrysler line-up.
It doesn't make sense to go for any other SUV than this fully-fledged Jeep.

Jeep plans to release an advanced Grand Jeep Cherokee in 2011. The Cherokee has
been superseded by the Jeep Commander. If the future model is to be anything classic,
it should be better than the Commander. Jeep is happy with its current model. Already;
new features have been added to the current model. The new model will come in
many colours and features. The price is also reasonable. The price ranges from $30,
