Checklist for Coordination of Engineering Plans
Between City of Mesquite and Town of Sunnyvale

This checklist is intended to assist the developer of a private development project with the coordination
between the City of Mesquite and Town of Sunnyvale. Please read the City of Mesquite Engineering Plan
Submittal Requirements for an explanation of requirements: http://www.cityofmesquite.com/engineering .
Please contact Town of Sunnyvale for plan submittal requirements.
Prior to Submission please research and have the following questions answered:
1. Does the project require sanitary sewer service from the City of Mesquite? If so, is the project site in the
drainage basin of North Mesquite Creek? If so, the project is eligible for connection to the City of
Mesquite sanitary sewer system. Engineering plans are required and shall comply with City of Mesquite
requirements and pro-rata fees.
2. Does the project discharge storm water into an enclosed storm water system, into a public right-of-way, or
into North Mesquite Creek with the City of Mesquite city limits? If so, engineering plans are required and
shall comply with City of Mesquite requirements.
3. Does the project connect to a City of Mesquite street requiring a drive approach or median opening/left
turn lane on a Mesquite street? If so, engineering plans are required and shall comply with City of
Mesquite requirements.
Items that MUST be completed for City of Mesquite Engineering Division to accept plan submittal:
Letter of transmittal listing everything included in submittal
Engineering Plan Submittal Application form
Engineering Plan Submittal Application Review Fee
Letter of Request from Town of Sunnyvale’s Town Engineer to Connect to the Sanitary Sewer System in
accordance with the Interlocal Agreements (May 6, 1974, and December 3, 1996)
Two sets of Engineering Plans (size 22” x 34”) – (Read Engineering Plan Submission Requirements and
Engineering Plan Checklist for detailed requirements) and appropriate review fees.
Subsequent submittals shall comply with Engineering Plan Submittal Requirements
Appropriate General Design Standard and Standard Detail Sheets shall be included in the plan set.
Items Typically Required for Release of Engineering Plans from City of Mesquite:
Letter of Request from Town of Sunnyvale’s Town Engineer to Connect to City of Mesquite infrastructure
If connecting to sanitary sewer, payment of Pro-Rata Fee calculated at $225/acre, check made to “City of
Mesquite”
The Public Works Inspection Fee (4%). Please submit a draft of the calculations prior to submitting the
final cover letter, calculations and fee.
Once plans are accepted, submit at least eight sets of engineering plans (the City of Mesquite keeps four
sets). These plans will receive our “release date” stamp and be provided to the owner/contractor at the
Town of Sunnyvale pre-construction meeting. At least one plan set with the City of Mesquite “release
date” will need to be on site during construction of the sanitary sewer line and connection.
Town of Sunnyvale shall be responsible for the following items once released by City of Mesquite:
Ensuring that City of Mesquite Public Works Inspector is invited to the pre-construction meeting
Releasing the project for construction after receiving an email confirming release of engineering plans
from the City of Mesquite
Satisfying monthly billing requirements with the City of Mesquite Finance Department
Ensuring compliance with any TCEQ requirements
