TITLE: Computer Technician

PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES OF THE POSITION: To handle routine and emergency technical tasks
necessary for the smooth functioning of the district’s computers and technology as needed.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Technology Coordinator

PAYMENT RATE: Negotiated Salary determined by USD 416 Board of Education

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Functions essential to attaining job objectives):

    1. Provide desktop support.

    2. Maintains computer software, application testing, software installs.

    3. Diagnoses and resolves network and workstation problems.

    4. Updates operating systems as needed.

    5. Works with school district personnel to assist them in becoming proficient in the use of the network and
       workstations.

    6. Performs hardware diagnostics and repair.

    7. Assist with SQL Reporting and district database needs.

    8. Maintains and updates district technology inventory database.

    9. Performs related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.

    10. Maintains and strives to improve professional performance and competence.


SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

   Experience developed in using various computers and computer programs, operating system software,
    antivirus, SQL reporting, student database software.

   Assist teaching staff with hardware and software used for instructional purposes.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

   1. A+ Certification or computer support experience required.
   2. Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in the Central Office (after employment offer is made
   3. Desire to continue career improvement by enhancing skills and job performance.

   1. Ability to ensure that all activities conform to USD 416 guidelines.

   2. Ability to communicate and work effectively and cooperatively with members of the school district and
      community.

   3. Ability to react to change and frequent interruptions in a productive and positive manner, meeting
      deadlines as assigned.

   4. Ability to work to implement the vision and mission of USD 416.

   5. Ability to maintain district technology inventory.

   6. Ability to keep current on new information, innovative ideas and techniques.

   7. Ability to observe and follow all school district policies at all times.

   8. Ability to perform and follow all USD 416 health and safety policies, including all precautions of the
      Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.

   9. Ability to perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the administration of
      USD 416.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:              Negotiated contract

EVALUATION:         Performance effectiveness evaluated in accordance with
     provisions of Kansas Statutes and Board of Education Policy.
