Step 1: Register to Do Business with the Federal Government
3 basic steps that a small business or minority institution must take to sell their
products or services to the US Air Force.
Small business or minority institution needs to be a registered contractor in the
Federal Government's Central Contractor Registration (CCR).
CCR Website (www.ccr.gov)
Must be registered in CCR prior to the award of a contract vehicle
To register in CCR, a firm must have a Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS)
number. The DUNS Number is assigned by Dun & Bradstreet, Inc. (D&B) to identify
unique business entities.
During the DUNS® and CCR registration processes, you will be asked for NAICS
codes, CAGE codes, and EIN. If you need assistance in finding any of them, use
the resources below.

North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Standards - These codes
classify the type of products or services your firm is capable of offering.
Contractor and Government Entity (CAGE) Code - A CAGE Code is a five (5)
position code that identifies companies doing or wishing to do business with the
Federal Government. The Defense Logistics Information Service (DLIS) in Battle
Creek, MI is the only authorized source of CAGE Codes.
Employer Identification Number (EIN) - This number can be also be obtained from
the IRS at 1-800-829-1040.

Step 2: Where to find the Procurement Opportunities
FEDBIZOPPS (www.fbo.gov) or Federal Business Opportunities (FBO)
FedBizOpps is the single government point-of-entry (GPE) for Federal
government procurement opportunities over $25,000. Government buyers
publicize their business opportunities by posting information directly to
FedBizOpps via the Internet. FBO also provides a training video to help familiarize
users with features and functionality of FBO.

Step 3: Finding Assistance in Pursuing an Opportunity
SMALL BUSINESS SPECIALISTS
Each Air Force Base in the continental United States has a Contracting Office with
an assigned Small Business Specialist. To find the correct Small Business
Specialist for your opportunity, go to the Air Force Small Business Homepage
(www.selltoAirForce.org), select Locator, and then search either by State or by
Base. This method will provide contact information for the Small Business
Specialist.
MAJOR COMMAND DIRECTORS
The US Air Force is organized into several Major Commands and Direct Reporting
units. Each of these commands has a Director, Small Business Office. To find out
more about the organization of the US Air Force and its Major Commands go to
Major Commands and Direct Reporting Units using the Air Force Small Business
Homepage and select Locator, search by Maj Commands.
