QUEENSLAND’S FIRST REGIONAL UDA DECLARED
The Queensland Government has declared the first UDA outside Brisbane; at Clinton,
Gladstone. The Clinton UDA consists of 26 hectares of government owned land, bounded by
the Dawson Highway to the north and west, Harvey Road to the east and established homes
along Keppel Avenue to the south. Within this area, the ULDA assumes the planning powers
of local government. The ULDA will work with the Gladstone Regional Council to help ease
the housing pressures that are expected to arise from resource sector growth in the region.
To be kept up to date on the Clinton UDA, email mclinton@ulda.qld.gov.au and ask to be
added to the Clinton stakeholder database. For more information about the Clinton UDA and
the ULDA Click Here>>

HAVE YOUR SAY ON THE SUNSHINE COAST’S STRUCTURE PLANS
“It’s now or never,” says Sunshine Coast Mayor Bob Abbot. The Sunshine Coast Regional
Council is calling for input on several structure plans that will define the Coast’s growth
accommodation over the coming years. The first $50 million of Round 2 funding for the
Commonwealth Housing Affordability Fund (HAF) includes $11.5 million for SCRC to deliver
infrastructure in Palmview. Council and the State Government, however, remain at odds
over several key elements of the plans. To have your say on the structure plans for
Palmview, Maroochydore PAC and Caloundra South Click Here>> and go the right hand
panel titled “SPOTLIGHT”.

There is little doubt that the GFC affected the local
economy and local businesses. So where does the
Sunshine Coast regional economy sit currently and how
does this compare to pre-GFC days? What can be done to
stimulate economic growth in the region and to provide
long term sustainability? And how is the local business
