									British High Commission switch to online visa

The British High Commission has announced an important change to the way
applications for UK visas are submitted. As of Saturday 1 September it will be
compulsory for all those needing a UK visa to fill out their visa application forms
using the internet site at Paper application forms will no
longer be accepted. Applicants will, however, still need to come into the High
Commission to submit other supporting information.

The British High Commission’s visa officer, Duncan Low, says: “We introduced the
new award-winning online visa application system at the end of July. It’s proved to
have been very successful, and a popular choice for visa applicants, especially
students. It’s a very user friendly system, which helps applicants provide the right

The online system also asks all visa applicants to book an appointment before coming
into the High Commission to submit their supporting documents and provide their
biometric data. Duncan Low says: “Through the appointment booking system, we
aim to provide a better service to visa applicants by reducing the queues and waiting
times at this busy time of year. As of 1 September, applicants will not be able to
come into the High Commission to submit their documents unless they have made an
