The ICBA decided that no matter what, it would fight to the death for its members. Its victories were many and yes, it had some bitter disappointments, and it continues to lobby against those provisions. Now the American people, the administration and Congress all know the distinctions between too-big-to-fail Wall Street firms and Main Street community banks. ICBA established that bright line, and none of them can underestimate the value of that to their franchise. A remarkable concerted effort has differentiated their safe and sound, common-sense banking model from that of the recklessness of Wall Street firms.
