Although no single dimensional standard governs pallet production, a few different sizes are widely used. Now, thanks to more than 2 years of research and development at their Bendi head office in Redditch, the Bendi engineering team has developed a unique way of handling European/open bottom pallets, just as cost effectively at 9+ m as at low heights. Put simply, their answer has been to combine the tried and tested articulation method with the conventional support arm stacker, which is already widely used in the European markets. It is a lighter model and the patented articulated steering system -- unique to this particular truck -- means lateral, forward and backward stability of the common stacker format, allowing mast heights of 7+ m. Meanwhile the big debate rages on in the pallet-making community. EPAL, the EUR-pallet management organization, claims its pool contains approximately 500 million block pallets and, as a result, block pallets are entrenched in Europe.
