Confused.com has Revealed Many Drivers do not Know the Drink-Drive Limit
Confused.com reveals a nation of drivers who do not know the drink-drive limit as they gear up
for the festive season.
Cardiff, Wales (PRWEB) December 22, 2010 -- Confused.com has revealed the results of a study* which shows
that 14% of people will drink-drive this Christmas, with nearly a quarter of those admitting they don't know how
many units are in one drink and 22% saying they don't feel tipsy so it's okay. 1 in 5 say they simply can't be
bothered to walk home.

A shocking 71% of the UK admit they don't know what the drink drive limit is, with 9% guessing they could
legally have 3 - 5 drinks before reaching the maximum and 4% saying it depends on what or how much they have
eaten beforehand.

In response to this Confused.com has developed an alcohol unit calculator
(http://www.confused.com/car-insurance/alcohol-units-calculator) to encourage awareness and moderation when
it comes to alcohol consumption. The quick and easy calculator allows the user to select the drinks they would
have on an average night and let the application work out how many units this equates to.

18 - 24 year olds are the most likely to drink-drive. Men are more likely to drink drive than women, with 10% of
women admitting they do, compared to 18% of men. Women are more aware of how many units they are
drinking with 10% more men than women saying they don't know how many units are in a drink.

Will Thomas, the head of motor said: "Alcohol affects different people in different ways and my advice is to not
drink at all if driving. Without taking into account the devastating toll paid in terms of injury, death, a driving ban
or prison time, a drink-driving offence can more than double a driver's premium or prevent them from being able
to obtain insurance at all.

"If a person finds themselves with a conviction, then it's important they shop around to make sure they're getting
the best deal on their car insurance (http://www.confused.com/). The hike will vary from insurer to insurer and
they may find they're able to save money by comparing all the options available to them."

Bosch Wins the Inaugural Toolstop Power Tool Oscars
Bosch make Toolstop Power Tool Oscars history by becoming the first company to win the
award, a victory which their Scottish Area Sales Manager, Tony Higgins described as “the
moment of a lifetime”.
(PRWEB) December 21, 2010 -- Bosch won the ‘battle of the power tools’ at the Toolstop ceremony, with their
Bosch GOP10.8V-LI Multitool.

Bosch’s best power tool gong was greeted with loud cheers from the star-studded audience in Uddingston, home
to Toolstop. Wembley Arena had been booked to accomodate the prestigious award ceremony, but the adverse
weather conditions had conspired against the organisers, hence the venue being transfered to Toolstop’s UK HQ.

The 1st Annual Power Tool Oscars, hosted by Neil Bruce and Mark Hunter, saw bookies’ favourite Makita come
runners-up with the Makita BJV180Z 18 volt lithium ion Jigsaw.

It meant Bosch’s GOP10.8V-LI Multitool took 42% of the 286 votes, pipping Makita’s 34%.

Speaking at the ceremony via live video link-up, Bosch’s Blue Professional power tools product manager, Marcel
Reissmann, said “this is excellent news, we have been following the poll closely and are delighted with the
outcome.”

Bosch representative Tony Higgins looked surprised to receive the award and appeared to be shaking with
emotion by the time the the results were read out.

“This really is – there’s no way to describe it – it’s the moment of a lifetime,” he said on receiving the gong.

See full details of the Power Tool Oscars on our poll.

 About the GOP10.8V-LI Multitool
A cordless, lightweight multitool for sanding, sawing, scraping, cutting and polishing has been introduced by
Bosch Professional Power Tools. The batteries use Bosch "Premium Lithium-ion Technology" that provides
extended battery life and run time due to ECP (Electronic Cell Protection). A battery charger indicator and
30-minute charger are supplied with the tool.

The multi-tool is ideal for fine and delicate sawing, filigree adjustments in wood and plunge cuts in dry walls and
solid wood. The tool also provides a means of grinding and scraping materials from wood and tiles and sanding
stone and wood. Due to its compact design, the tool can reach difficult areas and works well in tight spaces.

It Would Be Wiser to be Seen in the Dark
Be Wiser Insurance, the UK independent insurance brokerage has sent over 80,000 reflective
high visibility ‘owl’ stickers to over 20,000 of its customers as well as thousands of infant and
junior school childrenThe fun but practical stickers are aimed to help increase the chance of a
child being seen by motorists.
(Vocus) December 21, 2010 -- Be Wiser Insurance has come up with a bright idea to ensure children can be seen
by motorists during the dark winter days that are gripping the Nation.

The independent insurance brokerage has sent over 80,000 reflective high visibility ‘owl’ stickers to 20,000 of its
customers.

The fun but practical stickers are aimed to help increase the chance of a child being seen by motorists.

Be Wiser Insurance based in Andover Hampshire, has distributed an additional 10,000 stickers to infant and
junior schools. Children across Hampshire were delighted to receive the reflective ‘owl’ stickers. Teachers and
parents appreciated the practical approach to engage children on serious subject of road safety especially at this
time of year.

“The children were delighted with the Be Wiser stickers. It is a great way to highlight the serious subject of
safety while walking home, in a fun and effective way,” said Deputy Headmistress of Anton Junior School,
Andover, Hampshire.

Be Wiser insurance has two offices in Andover and over 120 employees who have completely supported this
initiative.

The ‘owl’ stickers are small but effective, and really do work well. All children love stickers and many have
placed them on their school bags or on the arms of their school coats. This is the perfect place for them. “It is
important that pedestrians do as much as possible to enable motorists to clearly see them,” said Marketing
Director Andrew Dunkerley.

FunkyBeast.com Reveals Truth in Advertising
FunkyBeast offers a "regular guy's perspective" on content, its creativity and effectiveness. In one
of its first official articles, the site lauds carmaker Hyundai for its prescient move in partnering
with YouTube sensation Pomplamoose in a series of holiday commercials for its Elantra, Sonata,
and other models.
London, England (PRWEB) December 20, 2010 -- Car commercials, video game commercials, FunnyOrDie, and
movies all have two things in common: they're being used to sell you something, and they're being covered on
FunkyBeast.com. Officially launching this week under the auspices of publisher/editor-in-chief - and former
British veejay - Dean Conroy, FunkyBeast offers a "regular guy's perspective" on content, its creativity and
effectiveness. One of its first official articles lauds carmaker Hyundai for its prescient move in partnering with
YouTube sensation Pomplamoose in a series of holiday commercials for its Elantra, Sonata, and other models.

"The world of Web Marketing, Internet Advertising, Branded Entertainment, Digital Production, and Public
Relations is one full of aspiration and exasperation, great work and lousy work, insight and cluelessness," said
Conroy, who divides his time between Los Angeles and London, where the blog's editorial staff is based. "The
bottom line is, everything sells something, so whether it's a piece of cinema or an advert, it's being marketed to
you and there's a product within it that's being marketed to you. And we're just after the truth in advertising."

While FunkyBeast.com's initial content included a review of "The Social Network" and a Skype-generated
discourse about actress Natalie Portman's appearance on the Zach Galifianakis FunnyOrDie show "Between Two
Ferns," Conroy said that the Hyundai Pomplamoose piece and an early article about the spec BMW M3 Film
"Living in the Lights" are ideal examples of FunkyBeast's formal direction. "Advertising and Marketing are not
naughty words," he stated. "We don't take a cynical view of it all. We start with the premise that advertising is a
useful and significant part of our lives and we commend brands and artists who seek to entertain us in the
process." Conroy was a fan of Pomplamoose long before the Hyundai spots broke. "I admire them not only for
their music, but for the way they shoot and edit their videos, for the way they've created their brand and style on
YouTube," he noted. "Hyundai and the advertising agency totally get them, and they brought it to TV and back to
the Web. And they've got the voice of last year's Oscar-winner Jeff Bridges, who's starring in Tron and True Grit.
This is a Japanese car company with better timing than the Germans! Brilliant."

Conroy is quick to point out that "it's not all tea and cucumber sandwiches, as we say in England," and that
FunkyBeast will fight injustice wherever it rears its ugly head. He points to a FunkyBeast article about
Nondisclosure Agreements in the ad biz as a prime example. "It's a fun piece and fun is what keeps us all
breathing, in my opinion, but the point we make is that people who didn't work on a project can say whatever they
want but the people who worked for hire are often not permitted to promote it. That seems bloody ridiculous to
me, mate, so we wrote about that."

As a veejay and "network ambassador" for the UK's MVE (Music Video Entertainment) from 1983-1987,
Conroy became one of the most recognizable faces in promos. His subsequent work on the telly and on radio
                                                                      Page 21/138

underscored his indelible impression on popular culture. In 2001, Conroy co-founded Funky Beast as an
alternative public relations and marketing firm based in his adoptive home of Los Angeles. He worked with a vast
array of high-profile clients, ranging from Superior Juices (and sub-brands SuperCoolPops and SuperFruityBags),
to Teeming Dance Vans, and Ladies' Lux Cosmetics. FunkyBeast.com is the "three-eyed lovechild of those
experiences," and to keep things honest, Conroy's editorial staff includes "a French snob, a cockney garbageman,
a Cuban attorney, and a Guatemalan princess."

"I've assembled a team of regular people who happen to be smart, insightful, entertaining writers," Conroy
concluded. "Well, they're mostly good writers. One of them is here, quite frankly, because it's good to have a
barrister around."

Not Convinced by Winter Tyres? Buy New Tyres for Better Tread and Grip
As the UK is hit by snow it has brought up the issue of winter tyres but as supplies decrease and
many people are unwilling to spend money on another set of tyres, the Tyre Blog discusses the
alternatives and issues a reminder that a tyre with 3mm of tread had a 25% better performance
than those at 1.6mm in wet conditions.
(PRWEB) December 20, 2010 -- With all the snow and winter weather causing havoc there is hot debate whether
the UK should embrace winter tyres. A number of drivers are making enquiries about them whilst others are
misinformed and would benefit from reading the winter tyres guide yet there are many that aren’t convinced or
choose not to bother. The Tyre Blog discusses the alternatives to winter tyres for those that aren’t quite convinced
with the compromise that increased tread depth will provide better grip. The confusion comes from there being no
law to enforce the use of winter tyres in the UK but it is a different story across Europe, where winter tyres are
required. Other countries such as Germany look set to make it the law to ensure driver safety on their roads.

Low Winter Tyres Stock in the UK

The problem for the UK is that it suffers from brief periods of cold snowy weather. In other countries like Russia
and Sweden, it becomes the normal way of living for a few months with constant snowfall. This is an important
issue for tyre manufacturers as they place resources into research & development, such as Nokian pioneering the
slush planing testing, whilst calculating the deployment of their tyres across the world. This results in the
European countries requiring more winter tyre stocks than the UK, which can end up leaving a shortage of winter
tyres at your local tyre branch resulting in a further wait.

Concerns about Winter Tyres

• Low stock at tyre depots which could result in a wait whilst they are placed on order
• Higher insurance premium as insurance companies see winter tyres adding to the value of a car
• Winter only lasting for a few months meaning a change back to normal ‘summer’ tyres

Alternatives to Winter Tyres

What can you do if you don’t want winter tyres?

 • Use snow chains on your tyres to help you get around – note these will need to be taken on and off based on
conditions
 • Buy some snow socks for your tyres that uses special material to grip the road
 • By a 4 wheel drive car or Land Rover style vehicle
 • Let down the air on the tyres to increase surface area
 • Carry on as usual or stay indoors
 • Buy a new set of car tyres which will have more tread and provide better grip than old tyres

Some of these may not be the best and most suitable alternatives to winter tyres but there are a few particular
                                                                      Page 24/138

issues that we are keen to highlight:

Winter Tyres – Rubber Compound or Deeper Tread?

One benefit of a winter tyre is the rubber compound it is made from. It stops it from hardening in the extreme
cold conditions. This is often highlighted as a key point in the benefit of a winter tyre – read a winter tyres review
for more. However, please remember that winter tyres have more grooves which are also deeper – these allow the
tyre to bite into the snow and keep moving along.

Buy New Tyres for Better Grip

One sure way of increasing the amount of grip a car has on the road is putting some new tyres on it. The set of
brand new tyres will have a deeper groove and will be able to grip the road better. So check your existing tyres
and if they are worn, buy a new set of tyres for your car and make sure you have sufficient tread depth to keep
control of your vehicle.

The 3mm tread campaign found the following:

Research showed that tyres with a 3mm tread had a 25% better performance than those at 1.6mm in wet
conditions. In terms of braking distance this represents an extra 8 metres (25ft). In one test, where a new tyre with
a tread depth of 8mm was compared to one with only 1.6mm the braking distance increased by 13 metres
(42.25ft).

This highlights a significant decrease in the stopping distances when using a new tyre compared to one that is
worn. If you aren’t convinced or having trouble finding winter tyres, buy a new set of car tyres at a local tyre
branch for the benefits that increased tread depth will provide.

Confused.com Warns of Real Cost of Christmas Car Modifications
Confused.com warns wannabe boy racers, be careful modifications for Christmas don't turn out
to be an insurance lump of coal.
(PRWEB) December 18, 2010 -- Research from Confused.com has revealed bad news for drivers looking for
modifications from Father Christmas this year. A 20 year old male driver adding alloy wheels to their car could
see the price of their premium rise by a massive £616*.

For those who are willing to pay the price of modifications, it is worth noting some insurance providers will
refuse to cover cars with them and therefore drivers who choose to modify, risk a narrowing of choice.
Undisclosed modifications could also lead to the invalidation of a policy. It's also important to remember that the
majority of car insurance (http://www.confused.com/) providers, who will offer a policy, do not cover the
modification in the event of theft or an accident. Whilst this might seem unfair as they have to be declared on a
policy and an extra premium is charged, the extra actually accounts for the fact that the modifications either make
the car more desirable to thieves (alloys, body kits) or improve the performance (exhausts, lowered suspension) of
the car and therefore increases risk of accidents.

Will Thomas, head of motor insurance at Confused.com said, "It may well seem like a better idea to buy a
cheaper, smaller car and modify it than invest in a more expensive, newer car but this could prove to be false
economy. Adding modifications at a young age may contribute to a premium price that can drive motorists off the
road. 17 - 20 year olds have seen prices rise by a massive £6162 over the last 12 months so now, more than ever,
it is essential to be careful with things that may end up adding more costs.

For young drivers looking for cheaper premiums, start with the classic small-engine run-around in order to build
driving experience. Smaller, less powerful cars represent a smaller risk and therefore are a lot cheaper. And,
whatever the type of car, it is always essential to shop around to get the best deal."

Direct Bikes Review Congestion Charge in London
Here is a recent Direct Bikes Review on the Congestion Charge in London.
(PRWEB) December 17, 2010 -- Here is a recent Direct Bikes Review on the Congestion Charge in London.

In a poll carried out by Direct Bikes in review of the Congestion Charge, it was found that 86% of Londoners felt
that scooters should continue to be excluded from the congestion charge.

In 2003, after a review by Transport For London, the Congestion Charge was introduced in the hope of reducing
congestion on London roads and decreasing air pollution. Originally drivers were paying £5 per day to drive in
these congestion zones, but over time this fee has increased dramatically, much to the dismay of commuters.

According to Transport For London, there is to be another charge increase from the 4th January 2011, meaning
that drivers will now have to pay a whopping £10 per day.

In review, as of 4 July 2005, the non-discounted daily charge for non-exempt vehicles is £8, or £7 for fleet
vehicles. Any applicable daily charge must be paid for a vehicle that is driven on a public road in the Congestion
Charge Zone between 7 am and 6 pm, Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays in England and the period
between Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Drivers may pay the charge online, by SMS text message, in certain
shops, or by phone. The charge may be paid the day after travel in the zone at an increased cost of £10.

So, you may be wondering how on earth you will be able to travel around the streets of London without racking
up hundreds of pounds worth of congestion fees? The answer is scooters, and Direct Bikes are here to help. Direct
Bikes confer with the Transport For London website, which states in their review that drivers of “two-wheeled
motorbikes (and sidecars), mopeds and bicycles” do not have to pay the Congestion Charge.

Owning a scooter is a brilliant alternative to owning a car, and the economic benefits are beyond compare.

Firstly, as stated by Direct Bikes ‘scooters are more environmentally friendly than cars,’ so you can zip happily
around town knowing that you are reducing your carbon footprint. Secondly, the gas to mileage ratio is
impressive with some direct bikes scooters reaching up to 100 miles per gallon. As reported in a review by
SMART guide (MCIA 2002), “A typical scooter consumes between 55% and 81% less fuel than a car for the
same journey”, and with fuel prices increasing around the globe,
you are sure to be saving money every time you refill the tank. Not only this, but road tax is a mere £15 per year.

Direct Bikes also stated, “another plus is that scooters and motorcycles are legally allowed to ride in some bus
lanes around London at certain times, allowing commuters to halve their journey time and whiz through the
traffic; just be sure to check the signs for a motorcycle symbol.”

So, there you have it. Just some of the many reasons why two wheels are better than four on London roads.

iQuote Motor Trade insurance - Information for Car Dealers: UK Vehicles with
the Lowest Depreciation
Essential information if you are a Motor Trader who buys and sell vehicles - the Top 10 cars for
holding residual values. Please read the iQuote Insurance guide to making an astute purchase for
your vehicle stock.
(PRWEB) December 17, 2010 -- Essential information if you are a Motor Trader who buys and sell vehicles - the
Top 10 cars for holding residual values. Please read the iQuote Insurance guide to making an astute purchase for
your vehicle stock.

A survey by Glass's conducted on vehicles registered three years ago, has produced a list of the top ten cars for
maintaining residual values. If you work in the Motor Trade and buy and sell vehicles, this is essential
information for your business.

The vehicle values below are calculated on three year old vehicles with recorded mileage of 37,000. The vehicles
each show a percentage figure, which is the amount of the original list price retained after the first three years.

1. Volkswagen Tiguan SE 4Motion 5d (68%)
2. MINI 1.6 Cooper 3d (65.9%)
3. Honda CR-V 2.2 CTDi SE 5d (64.3%)
4. Land Rover Freelander 2 GS Td4 Auto (63.8%)
5. Audi Q7 3.0TDI Quattro S Line Tip (63.8%)
6. Land Rover Discovery 3 2.7TD (63.7%)
7. Audi TT Coupe 2.0T FSI (63.6%)
8. Nissan Qashqai 1.6 2WD Visia (63.3%)
9. Land Rover Range Rover 2.7TD Sport (62.5%)
10. Audi A5 2.7TDI Sport Coupe Multitronic (62.2%)

The VW Tiguan tops the charts for residual values, this is partially due to limited numbers available as this has
never been strongly marketed to UK customers. This limits the number of cars available, but there is also the
brand value of the VW badge, which is synonymous with quality.

Another detail to note for Car Dealers looking to make astute purchasing decisions is that despite cost and
environmental factors, 7 of the top 10 vehicles are SUV's. Many industry watchers expected values of these larger
thirstier vehicles to fall, but the smart money is sticking with 4x4's.

Looking to get the best value from your Motor Traders insurance? New for 2011 we have a range of new policies
for Car Dealer insurance our cover is specifically tailored to meet the requirements of Car Dealers and Motor
Traders. We can help you find the right cover for your business including vehicle stock, premises and
demonstration cover.

Motor Cycle Industry Says Stay Safe on the Roads and Cut the Christmas
Booze
The MCI (www.mcia.co.uk) is calling on riders to cut their Christmas drinking if they are
planning to ride.
(Vocus) December 17, 2010 -- The Motor Cycle Industry Association (MCI) is calling on riders to cut their
Christmas drinking if they are planning to ride. The latest analysis of drink-drive statistics show that in 2008, of
the motorcycle riders tested following an accident, 1.4 per cent failed a breathalyzer test compared to an average
of 2.7 per cent for all road user casualties as a whole .

Although motorcyclists are half as likely as car riders to take the risk of drinking and driving, the Christmas
season marks the time of year when people are more likely to indulge in a couple of extra drinks.

Young riders in particular are most likely to drink and ride. Motorcyclists aged between 20 and 24 were most
likely to fail a breath test, with 2.4 per cent of tests taken by riders in this age band positive for alcohol. However,
this figure is still less than half that of the average for all road users between 20 and 24, of whom 5 per cent gave
a breath test positive for alcohol.

The MCI advises:

 • Never drink any amount of alcohol if you’re riding. You don’t have to be over the limit for your skills to be
impaired.
 • Never drink late at night if you’re riding early the next morning. If you get caught out later than you thought,
take alternative transport or go pillion next morning.
 • Don’t let mates drink and ride.
 • Don’t buy a drink for anyone if you know they are planning to ride

Steve Kenward, MCIs, CEO commented, “ The party season is upon us. The only sensible message is don’t drink
and ride. Drinking, drugs and motorcycle riding don’t mix at any time in the year but be especially careful during
this season of good cheer and increased temptation.

“Bear in mind that alcohol can stay in your system well into the next day, so if you were drinking the night
before you might also want to avoid riding in the early part of the next day.”

Schools Out, Fuel's Up and Snow is Falling
RAC reveals pre-Christmas pressure for motorists this weekend
(PRWeb UK) December 17, 2010 -- Schools out and parents trying to keep Christmas costs down are faced with
the pressure of added expense at the pumps and challenging driving conditions. The cost of motoring this
Christmas will be even higher than last year and increasing fuel prices coupled with the return of arctic conditions
will bring little joy to the UK’s roads.

The Met Office has issued extreme weather warnings for the next few days, especially severe in Scotland and the
North West. They’ll be little joy at the pumps either as the cost of filling an average tank (55 litres) with unleaded
petrol has risen 13% from £59.67* in December 2009 to £67.25* now. The cost for diesel car owners to fill up
has also risen, currently costing £69.46* – a rise of 15% from £60.45* in December 2009.

Shoppers paradise?

As the deadline for pre-Christmas delivery on many online orders passes and the continuing bad weather
increases the backlog of gifts awaiting delivery, estimated today at four million parcels by Global Freight
Solutions, many shoppers will head to large retail locations to complete their Christmas shopping this weekend.
This will cause increased congestion near major shopping centres including:

- M25 Essex - at junction 30 (Lakeside shopping)

- M25 Kent - at junction 2 (Bluewater shopping)

- M40 Oxfordshire - at junction 9 for Bicester (Bicester Village shopping)

- Delays on the M1 at J34 for Meadowhall

RAC is expecting the volumes of breakdowns, seen during the previous cold spell, to return. Severe weather
conditions can raise daily breakdown volumes by anything up to 70% and the previous two week freeze resulted
in a 50% increase in calls to RAC and repairs to over 129,000 vehicles – that’s a fix every 12 seconds.

In response to the current weather forecasts RAC’s winter contingency plans are again stepping into action. This
includes:

- Equipping patrols with tyre covers/snow chains
- Additional 4x4s deployed in key areas ready for use
- Increased technical support in RAC contact centres to enable more phone fixes at roadside

 · Check local weather and traffic conditions before setting off and if you can avoid the trip do so
 · Give yourself extra time and stick to the main roads where possible as they're the most likely to have been
treated
 · If you're travelling any distance, let someone know where you're going and when you expect to arrive
 · Make sure your car windows and lights are clear from ice and snow
 · Take extra clothing in the car, food and drink, scraper and de-icer, a charged up mobile phone, torch and
potentially a shovel
 · Drive only as fast as the conditions allow and remember stopping distances are longer in ice and snow
 · Black ice can just appear to be wet patches on the road surface and tends to form on bridges and overpasses
where the cold air can pass above and beneath the road surface
 · If the noise from your tyres on the road suddenly becomes quiet, it may well be you are driving on ice
 · Gentle manoeuvres are key to safe driving in ice and snow - use your accelerator, brakes, steering and
clutch as gently as possible
 · If you're unfortunate enough to skid, steer into the skid and avoid the temptation to slam on the brakes

Motorcycle Sales Show Signs of Recovery
The Motor Cycle Industry Association’s monthly motorcycle statistics show that during
November there have been signs of recovery
(Vocus) December 17, 2010 -- The Motor Cycle Industry Association’s monthly motorcycle statistics show that
during November there have been signs of recovery. Although overall the market is down, all engine sizes saw an
increase in sales this month compared to sales in November 2009.

The influence of the industry’s Get On campaign, that is focused on bringing new riders into the world of
motorcycling is reflected in the sales figures as the entry level sector (51 -125cc engines) saw the biggest
improvement with a 11.1% increase compared to November last year. In that category the Honda CBF 125M was
the highest registering model within each style. Scooters, again the ideal machine for entry level riders, have
experienced 13.1% growth with Kymco and Peugot the highest registering style.

Although we have entered the colder months of the year it is a positive sign that a number of the sectors have
expanded. The areas of biggest growth was in the Trail/ Enduro market (24.9%) , followed by Supersport (
19.7%) and Custom bikes (14.4%) .

Steve Kenward MCI’s CEO commented, “ We are seeing the benefits of the industry’s Get On campaign as the
smaller engine bikes are growing steadily. It has been a difficult year for the industry battling through a recession
and more recently the unusually cold weather.

“ The industry is working hard to grow the market and savvy buyers who shop around can benefit from some of
the good finance deals that are currently on the market in the run up to Christmas”

For more information about the industry's Get On campaign, which is helping people get into the world of
motorcycling by providing a free one hour ride with a local trainer, go to the website http://www.geton.co.uk .

Fed up UK Motorists Call for Harsher Penalties for Uninsured Drivers
Motorists call for fines of £900 for uninsured drivers.
Birmingham, UK (PRWEB) December 13th, 2010 -- Research* from Direct Line has revealed that fed up UK
motorists want to see fines of around £900 for those caught driving uninsured. This is over four times more than
the current fine of £200** and 18 times more than the new proposed fine of £50.

Fines aren't the only thing motorists want to see increased; 34 per cent want those caught driving uninsured to
have to take their driving test again and 28 per cent want a life ban for those caught.

Not only do motorists want larger fines and harsher sentences, 77 per cent of them would like an uninsured
drivers' hotline or website, where they could 'shop' someone they know is driving uninsured.

Andy Goldby, Director of Motor Underwriting at Direct Line, said: "Direct Line fully supports what the UK's fed
up motorists want. Those responsible drivers who insure their cars have had enough of the additional £30 on their
premiums that these uninsured drivers cost them. They want harsher penalties, larger fines and a hotline to give
information on those driving uninsured - though most of all they want decisive action.

"Uninsured drivers put a huge cost on society and the UK motorist has had enough. A £900 fine is more than the
average car insurance premium and would act as a real deterrent to those who wish to drive uninsured."

Direct Line is calling for a policy rethink after proposed new fine levels for uninsured drivers could be as little as
£50.

Whilst a fine of £100 will be issued initially, if paid promptly it reduces to £50 and is unlikely to deter the
persistent uninsured driver. The new proposed fines stand in stark contrast to the maximum penalties for a range
of lesser perceived misdemeanours such as;

 • Failure to pay your TV licence fee: £1,000
 • Smoking in a smoke-free place: £200
 • Conviction for graffiti: £5,000
 • Fare evasion on London buses: £1,000
 • Overfilling your bin: £110
Direct Line was the first, and still is one of the few insurers to offer as standard, a nil excess and maintain its
customer's No Claims Discount if they are hit by an uninsured driver. With uninsured drivers already adding
around £30 to everyone's insurance premium, drivers shouldn't have to pay even more if they are hit by an
uninsured driver.

Facts about uninsured drivers***
• 23,000 people are injured and 160 are killed every year by uninsured drivers
• In 2009, 164,000 people were convicted for driving without insurance - that is one conviction every three
minutes
                                                                      Page 45/138

 • The cost of uninsured motoring in the UK is estimated to be around £500 million. The MIB charges a levy on
all motor insurance companies to help fund the cost of uninsured driving in the UK. That amounts to £30 for each
law abiding driver in their annual motor premium.
 • Police report that 180,000 vehicles were seized in 2009, taking the total to more than 600,000 since laws were
introduced in 2005

Green Flag's Winter Weather Driving Advice
If you must use the roads during adverse weather conditions, be sure to take Green Flag's safe
driving tips into account.
Birmingham, UK (PRWEB) December 13th, 2010 -- Following the Met Office's warning of further snow across
the UK over the coming days, Green Flag is advising motorists to ensure that they are fully prepared for the
forecast winter weather.

Neil Wilson, head of rescue operations at Green Flag, comments, "We advise motorists to avoid all non-essential
travel if the winter weather causes hazardous driving conditions. However, if you do have to drive in snow or icy
conditions, make sure you allow extra time for your journey, take your time on the roads and ensure you have
warm clothing and a mobile phone in case you breakdown or get stuck in the snow.

"From experience we know that the number of calls for rescue assistance can double in wintry conditions, so we
monitor weather forecasts in advance and draft in extra staff both on the roads and on the phones to handle
emergencies. If you haven't got breakdown cover and you need help, do still give us a call as 'instant cover' is
always available."

For those motorists who must use the roads, Green Flag has some top tips for driving in hazardous weather
conditions:
 • Use the defroster and windshield wipers for better visibility. Ensure the blades are in good condition, with no
splits, de-ice the screen completely and ensure the blades are not frozen to the screen before operating. Failure to
do so may result in the protective fuse blowing. It is also worth adding an anti-freeze inhibitor to the screen wash
fluid container
 • Once on the road, check your speed and turn slowly, even if the roads have been gritted
 • Give more warning than usual to other drivers when turning, stopping or changing lane
 • Keep plenty of distance between cars. You never know when you'll hit an icy spot. If you pass the same
landmarks as the car in front of you within three seconds, you are following too closely
 • Pump the brakes slowly and gently if your car does not have anti-lock brakes. Constant pressure can cause them
to lock and skid
 • Be extra wary of black ice - it is an invisible danger that can catch out the most careful driver
 • Approach corners at a steady speed, in as low a gear as possible. Don't touch the clutch unless it is absolutely
necessary, steer smoothly and avoid braking on the bends

79% of ‘Young Consumers’ Trust Online Reviews as Much as Personal
Recommendations
A recent poll by BrightLocal.com, the local search engine optimisation specialists, finds that 69%
of people trust online customer reviews as much as personal recommendations. This figure rises
to 79% among 16-34 year olds and remains strong for the growing numbers of online and IT
literate baby boomers (62%).
(PRWeb UK) December 14, 2010 -- The Local Consumer Review Survey examines the role that online customer
reviews play in the research and purchase of local business services. The online survey polled 2,012 consumers
across the US & UK.

 Key Findings
Across the board younger consumers are more likely to read as well as trust online reviews, while female
consumers are more likely than men to believe and to act on reviews they read online; including purchasing from
a local business that has positive online reviews.

 Age vs. Sage...
 - Younger consumers use the internet more regularly to find good local businesses with 11% of 16-34 year olds
using it almost EVERY day;
 - More 16-34 year olds (68%) consult online reviews than people aged 55+ (60%);
 - More 16-34 year olds (79%) trust online reviews as much as personal recommendations than people aged 55+
(62%).

 Trust vs. Influence...
 - 58% of respondents said that reading positive online reviews makes them trust local businesses more;
 - But only 49% said that they would be more likely to actually use a local business based on reading positive
online reviews.

Men vs. Women...
- Female consumers (74%) are more trusting of online reviews than male (67%).

US vs. UK
Additional revealing insights in the survey are the differing attitudes between US & UK consumers.

 - US consumers (79%) use the internet slightly more frequently to find local businesses than UK consumers
(77%);
 - US consumers (71%) read online reviews more than UK consumers (61%).

However...
- UK consumer (62%) are influenced by positive reviews more than US (55%);
- UK consumers (73%) trust online reviews more than US (67%).

                                                                      Page 51/138

Customer reviews influence local consumer behavior but that’s not all...
As well as influencing the purchasing decisions of local consumers, online customer reviews play an important
part in how local consumers find local businesses in the first place.

Myles Anderson, Founder of BrightLocal.com, explains; “Local search engines like Google Places, and online
directories like Yelp.com, use online reviews as a way to determine the quality of a local business. This directly
affects how high-up the search results a business appears, so if a local business wants to boost their position in
Google and attract more customers, then asking their loyal customers to review them online is an excellent way to
do this”

Avoid Being Left At Sea With CTEK
Being lost at sea without power is a sailor's worst nightmare, a nightmare that can now be made
obsolete with CTEK's D250S Dual Smart Battery Charger and SmartPass power management
system.
London, UK (PRWEB) December 12, 2010 -- Being lost at sea without power is a sailor's worst nightmare, a
nightmare that can now be made obsolete with CTEK's D250S Dual Smart Battery Charger and SmartPass power
management system.

The D250S Dual is a new onboard 12V Battery Charger that is powered from the alternator and, will not only
charge leisure batteries whilst on the engine is switched on or on the move, but also provide comprehensive
Battery Protection and extend their life, saving the consumer valuable time and money.

The CTEK SmartPass allows energy produced from solar, wind, AC chargers and alternators to be synchronised
to maximise output and minimise charge time. The energy is then able to be distributed to different battery banks
and/or equipment such as lights and navigational systems that need additional energy, while ensuring the battery
remains fully charged.

When used in tandem the result is a 'total' energy regulator for energy production, usage and storage in any 12V
DC system, meaning that the chance of experiencing complete power failure whilst at sea is no more.

Peter White, Sales and Marketing Manager CTEK UK and Ireland, commented: "Complete power failure whilst
at sea can obviously present many dangers to those on board. Many believe that the alternator will keep the
battery charged whilst the engine is switched on but that's simply not the case, rather it tops it up to the point just
below where it started. As the battery is relied up on and used more and more, the levels slowly dwindle and can
therefore lead to failure.

Pay Less for Ryanair Car Hire with Arguscarhire.com
Leading European car rental website ArgusCarHire.com is inviting Ryanair Canary Island
holidaymakers to explore more of the islands with car hire from just £12 per day in Gran
Canaria, Lanzarote, Tenerife and Fuerteventura.
(PRWEB) December 10, 2010 -- Leading European car rental website ArgusCarHire.com is inviting Canary
Island holidaymakers to explore more of the islands with car hire from just £12 per day in Gran Canaria,
Lanzarote, Tenerife and Fuerteventura.

The call comes just days after budget carrier Ryanair confirmed plans to increase routes to the Canary Islands.

From February 2011, the low cost airline will base six aircraft in Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Tenerife. It will
also be increasing Fuerteventura routes and frequencies.

Commenting on the 'Explore More, Pay Less' campaign, Barry Malone, Head of Online at Argus Car Hire said:
"The volcanic landscapes and national parks of the Canary Islands provide huge touring potential. Argus has
always offered great value car rental for holidaymakers travelling to the Canary Islands, but with cheap car rental
- and now, increased low cost flights from Ryanair, it's definitely a case of seeing more and paying less for
anyone planning a winter sun getaway or summer break in the Canaries."

Explore More, Pay Less:
• Gran Canaria Car Hire
• Lanzarote Car Hire
• Tenerife Car Hire
• Fuerteventura Car Hire
All from £12 per day

To book low cost car rental in the Canary Islands:
Visit our Ryanair Car Hire page
or Call: 0800 625 0028

 Destination Focus: Lanzarote
One of the easiest ways to see more of the island of Lanzarote is to rent a car and explore the island at a pace that
suits you. Lanzarote offers a good range of attractions, as well as plenty of picturesque scenery. A daytrip around
the Valley of 1000 Palms and Valley de Temisa comes highly recommended. Drivers who dare to negotiate the
hairpin bends are rewarded with spectacular cliff-hanger views between the valleys which lie side by side. The
valleys are by far the greenest spots on the island and are home to unusual sub tropical plant life.

Getting there: The Valle de Temisa can be reached via the LZ1. Drivers should take the exit for Tabayesco, just
before reaching Arrieta.

etyres Strengthens National Online Tyres Network
etyres announces it is strengthening its nationwide coverage.
Cambridge, England (PRWEB) December 8, 2010 -- etyres, the UK's leading online tyres company, announces it
is strengthening its nationwide coverage and continuing to grow at a rapid rate, despite the challenging economic
climate.

etyres has reported a steep rise in the number of new branches launching across the UK.

The intensified growth of the UK's leading online tyres company has led to a strengthening of its nationwide
coverage. The consolidation of its network is also enhancing the service provided to thousands of customers
every week.

Since the start of 2009 the Cambridge-based firm has launched almost 40 new branches around the UK,
stretching from Ayr down to Bournemouth and from Ipswich across to Newport.

Tony Bowman, the managing director of etyres, said: "We are tremendously proud that we are continuing to
reinforce our nationwide coverage at such a fast rate, which means we can enhance the service offered to our
customers.

"By opening so many new branches we are able to respond swiftly to supply and fit new tyres
(http://www.etyres.co.uk/) all over the UK."

Four new branches have started operating in the past month and several more will begin trading within the next
couple of weeks, to coincide with the seasonal hike in demand for winter tyres.

Bowman added: "Despite the economic downturn our business has been identified by investors looking to
start-up their own business as a franchise operation that can succeed, even in a recession.

"And our existing franchise owners are also benefiting from a boom in business, with more than a dozen taking
on extra vans during the last few months to cope with the increase in demand for our service.

"Our success is based on a tried-and-tested formula of giving customers what they want - cheap tyres and a
convenient mobile fitting service at a location of their choice."

 About etyres
Launched in 1997, etyres is the UK's first online tyres retailer. It operates a mobile fitting service, which means
customers can have their tyres fitted at a location of their choice, whether they want tyres in Huddersfield
(http://www.etyres.co.uk/towns/huddersfield/tyres-in-huddersfield-area.html) or Bournemouth, at their home or
their place of work.

Its low overheads mean the price customers pay is always low - up to 40% cheaper than the leading high street
                                                                      Page 62/138

ABSEM Gets VPM's AutoFinancing.net Back on the Road with Search Engine
Optimization
ABSEM's Search Engine Optimization expertise has helped Virtual Project Manager Inc to grow
their automotive sales lead generation business, despite the tough economic conditions since the
credit crunch.
(PRWeb UK) December 3, 2010 -- It's been a tough time in recent years for the automotive industry, yet Chicago
based Virtual Project Manager Inc. continues to grow, thanks to business development and search engine
marketing expertise from search marketing agency ABSEM.

Founded in 2003 by brothers Mike and Dennis Lambert, VPM has grown into a business with a number of
websites, attracting visitors and generating sales leads for new and used car sales, insurance and finance.

The business grew steadily up until 2009, when it reached the ceiling encountered by most small businesses; the
founders no longer had enough time to run the business and implement all the new ideas and projects that were
critical for the business’ continuing growth and long term stability.

In 2010, VPM turned to ABSEM’s Naval Kumar for assistance.

“We discovered that our growth as a business was limited by our time, so we gave ABSEM all of the projects
that had been sitting on the shelf to see where they could help us,” said Mike.

Naval says, “We knew for VPM to succeed within the Automotive vertical in the US they would need to compete
with bigger, established brands.

Our experience in the industry helps us stay ahead of the competition for our clients. We create competitive
analysis to understand what the competitors are doing and to ensure we are thinking ahead and constantly growing
for our clients.”

After refining the AutoFinancing.net PPC accounts and taking the decision to re-design the site with an aim to
attract more organic traffic, ABSEM outlined a comprehensive wireframe site design. During the entire process,
the biggest challenge was to ensure that a site re-design did not affect Page Rank, existing keyword rankings or
current organic traffic volume. In order to achieve this, ABSEM took the following steps:

 1. Whilst designing the site wireframe, ABSEM made sure that 90% of the URL structures remained intact,
thereby ensuring minimal change to the sitemap

 2. ABSEM used Google Analytics to identify high ranking site pages and back tracked them to the anchor texts
and locations of links in the original website

 3. ABSEM incorporated these high ranking keywords along with their anchor text so that they would continue to
have exposure from the site's home page whilst their destination URLs remain the same as far as the Search
                                                                      Page 65/138

Engines were concerned, protecting existing SEO work

 4. Lastly, ABSEM evaluated site meta data and only refined the pages and tags which lacked keyword density or
belonged to pages that previously did not have any exposure

After 2 months of planning, managing and strategy development, ABSEM finally helped VPM launch their new
site design for AutoFinancing.net.

Now came the most difficult part – waiting. ABSEM monitored the site over a period of two months to check for
any detrimental impact on search engine placement, as is often the case following such significant site redesign.
Not only did AutoFinancing.net maintain its rankings and Page Rank, ABSEM's careful placement of ads,
improvement of onsite content and overall site optimization increased VPM's AdSense traffic value by more than
100%.

“Big success.”

Mike says that within a very short time, “We’ve seen increases in our page ranks and the search engines are
definitely looking at our websites more positively, thanks to ABSEM’s work. Our new lines of business have
immediately been a big success. We can see the source of every lead, the campaigns that ABSEM created and
optimized for us are performing well and we have been able to open up new lines of business that we hadn’t
previously explored.”

“Thanks to our positive experience with ABSEM, we have now outsourced other areas of our business too, such
as web development, link building and copy writing. ABSEM manage some of these suppliers for us, freeing up
even more of our time,” says Mike. “We want freedom to move on and do different things, to grow our business
and explore other ventures and ABSEM have given us that freedom.”

The websites that ABSEM have optimized and developed for VPM are as follows:

AutoFinancing.net
CarFinderService.com
Auto.GetAStart.com
AboutCar.com
HybridAutomobiles.com

Audi Volkswagen Middle East select Singularity BPM Suite to Achieve
Efficiency and Cost-Savings
Leading Global BPM Software vendor Singularity enables Audi Volkswagen Middle East to
achieve efficiency improvements, including enhanced management control, lower costs, greater
transparency and much reduced paperwork.
(PRWEB) December 1, 2010 -- Audi Volkswagen Middle East (AVME) imports Audi and Volkswagen vehicles,
as well as parts, for its partners across the region. It provides marketing, sales and after sales support for dealers in
order to further boost sales of Volkswagen Group products in the Middle East.

AVME had previously purchased a business process management system from a competitor of Singularity.
Despite this, AVME decided to acquire a replacement system to achieve further improvements to its local
purchasing system and to increase its quality and control of procurement.

AVME required a user-friendly, easy-to-use platform that did not require programming skills or high levels of
technical expertise in-house. AVME chose Singularity, ahead of several competitors, to supply a Business Process
Management (BPM) system that would be used for local purchasing orders. The system works with their existing
Microsoft and other systems, including SAP, and enhances the operating capacity of those legacy systems.

Singularity installed its BPM Suite, the Singularity Process Platform (SPP), quickly and to the client's complete
satisfaction. The system operates efficiently and without any problems. The loading of data onto the system is
carried out by AVME without the need for detailed support from Singularity. The platform is delivering
efficiency improvements as well as cost savings. AVME is pleased with the system and is now considering using
the Singularity Process Platform for additional applications such as improving its human resource management
functions.

Tina Hasper, I.T. Manager at AVME, said: "Singularity impressed us with their product and their attitude. They
provided a solution that exactly met our needs – to bring together processes and systems in a way that worked in
the hands of staff that are excellent, but are not software engineers."

"We got what we wanted from Singularity. We have a system that works, that was quickly operational, that we
can operate ourselves without constant external support and which knits together our various legacy systems. It
has greatly improved our procurement control," Tina added.

Dermot McCauley, VP of Corporate Development, at Singularity said "Audi and Volkswagen are beginning to
reap the benefits of business process agility through the adoption of our Business Process Management Suite.
Initial feedback has been very encouraging and we are pleased to be part of their long-term strategic plans to
streamline other operational areas of their business through the Singularity BPM Suite."

Etyres Strengthens its National Online Tyres Network
etyres announces it is strengthening its nationwide coverage
Cambridge, Cambridgeshire (PRWEB) November 28, 2010 -- etyres, the UK's leading online tyres company,
announces it is strengthening its nationwide coverage and continuing to grow at a rapid rate, despite the
challenging economic climate.

etyres has reported a steep rise in the number of new branches launching across the UK.

(http://www.etyres.co.uk/ ) all over the UK."

(http://www.etyres.co.uk/towns/huddersfield/tyres-in-huddersfield-area.html ) or Bournemouth, at their home or
their place of work.

Its low overheads mean the price customers pay is always low - up to 40% cheaper than the leading high street
                                                                      Page 79/138

social network, Neezz.com, goes live to a simple yet memorable launch celebration today. Neezz.com, the first
classifieds social network here in Malaysia, is well set to tap into the growing market of internet savvy, 20 to 50
somethings; where time is of the essence and convenience is key.

More than 30 guests, including celebrity personalities; Mr Abbas Saad, professional footballer turned football

Developed by co-founders of Neezz.com, (Saleem Berbar, Hakeem Labiod, Fareed Amiour, Nadeer Habrih and

together with the features that a user can find in a social networking site. When visitors come to the site, they will
immediately find that they are not immersed in a stunning 3D multi-verse; but rather, a simple, yet user-friendly
site that enable users to post information on any items that they would like to buy and sell, as well as interact with
their own network of friends via chat, video and messaging.

The team also includes 7 sports personnalities, as investors and brand endorsers, Sebastien Squillaci (Footballer-

To celebrate their debut launch here in Malaysia, Neezz.com is also launching an online charity initiative where
users will be able to do their bit for charity by purchasing items that have been donated by celebrities or
well-known personalities through Neezz.com.

To kick-off this charity initiative, the present six celebrities - Mr Abbas Saad, Miss Rina Omar and members of
the One Buck Short band– showcased their donated items to the guests. The donated items included a signed
football and jersey from Abbas Saad; a sentimental rock t-shirt, jacket and handmade locket and ring set from
Rina Omar, as well as members of One Buck Short.

Users may be able to start making their purchases toward these donated items from December 1 onwards and
proceeds will be contributed to the PDK Puncak Jalinan Kasih, a community-based charity rehabilitation centre
located in Batang Kali, Selangor, accommodating physically-handicapped children.

“We aim to raise as much money as we can to help the children from the PDK Puncak Jalinan Kasih home
through this charity initiative, therefore, we’re urging celebrities out there to come forward and donate their own
special personalized items or memorabilia for a good cause,” says Mr Saleem Berbar.
When asked to share their marketing plans moving forward, Neezz.com commented that apart from their
commitment to helping Malaysians in need via their online features, Neezz.com will also be looking at giving
their users a more holistic experience such as expanding the suite of features available as well as forming
symbiotic partnerships with content providers.

Having identified an emerging demographic of users who, according to online research studies, are keen to
engage more in online activities, such as the buying and selling of items, casual chats, video uploads and
downloads, sharing of moments through pictures and videos; Neezz.com aims to aggressively align their service
portfolio and marketing plans to meet this demand.
“At the moment in time, users will not only be able to post up information on items that they want to sell off, but
they are also able to post up information on items that they’ve been looking for. With the built-in social network
features, users are able to share this information immediately with their family, friends and other Neezz.com
users,” adds Mr Saleem.

Following the predicted growth in mobile-application services, Neezz.com gets in the mix by allowing users to
also be able to conveniently access the site, at anytime and anywhere via their hand phones; through their mobile
Neezz.com application feature.

First-time users of Neezz.com will find themselves pleasantly surprised. With the easy sign-up steps and
simplicity of the features, it is definitely a great break from time-taxing, social networking sites that has been
dominated by privacy control settings.

Confused.com Reveals the Careers Driving Crashes
Confused.com research has revealed which careers have the most hazardous drivers in the UK.
(PRWEB) November 26, 2010 -- Confused.com research has revealed that, despite the fact they should be the
most savvy of all professions, when it comes to accidents and injuries, GPs are actually the most hazardous
drivers in the UK.

The new study found that GPs top the table as the occupation with the highest number of car insurance
(http://www.confused.com/) claims with 33% of those registered with the price comparison site claiming in the
past year.

Furthermore, those in a medical profession appeared most frequently in the top ten (50%). Closely following GPs
were; psychologists (30%), district nurses (30%), hospital doctors (29%) and dentists (27%).

Even having 20-20 eyesight doesn't seem to mean drivers are exempt from a crash - opticians proved a sight for
sore eyes with 27% claiming for an incident in the last 12 months. Law-abiding policemen joined them in the top
20 with 26% making a claim.

When it comes to salary, high earners such as solicitors and accountants are most likely to make a claim,
contributing to 65% of the top 20. In contrast, manual labourers appear to be the safest drivers with 85% of the
bottom 20 made up of carpet fitters, decorators and plasterers. Other 'safe' drivers from the manual labour
industries include farm workers (10%), construction workers (10%), painter/decorators (11%) and mechanics
(11%). Car valeters came out as the least likely to make a claim with only 8% putting in the paperwork last year.

Will Thomas, head of Motor Insurance at Confused.com said, "The findings really challenge perceptions of
motorist profiles. Typically, people would expect a painter, decorator or the 'White Van Man' to be more likely to
have an accident than a doctor or accountant but the survey shows quite the opposite. It's also rather interesting
that five medical professions appear in the top ten. Perhaps the long hours and work related stress associated with
such professions might explain their diminishing attention levels whilst on the road. What's ultimately important
is that drivers choose the right insurance policy for their lifestyle so that they're adequately covered should an
accident happen."

 Notes to Editors:
 Research Methodology
Data is based on 2000 respondents from Confused.com quotes between 18th October 2009 and 18th October

Cost of Motoring Soars by 6.3% as Drivers Feel The Pinch
Rising fuel costs account for a third (33%) of the £346 annual increase
(PRWEB UK) November 25, 2010 -- The average annual cost of owning and running a new car has jumped by
6.3% in the last 12 months, according to RAC’s annual Cost of Motoring (CoM) Index¹. The £346 increase,
which is twice the rate of inflation², takes average costs up to £5,869 from £5,523 in 2009. This equates to
£112.87 per week or 48.91p per mile.

The Index addresses the costs of owning and running a new car and includes fuel, insurance, maintenance, road
tax, breakdown cover, depreciation and finance.

In addition to the overall costs, the Cost of Motoring Index also focuses on the day-to-day running costs by
stripping out both depreciation and car finance. New car running costs have increased by £197 (8.9%) to £2,417.
This figure is up from £2,219 in 2009 and equates to a weekly cost of £46.48 – an increase of £3.79 per week.

Overall, it now costs an average of £736 more to own and run a car than it did before the onset of the recession
and financial crisis in 2007.

High fuel prices continue to hurt motorists
A key contributor to this year’s rise in the cost of motoring has been the unwelcome return of record high fuel
prices. The cost of fuel for the average motorist has escalated £116 (9.8%) to £1,300 per year.

Both diesel and petrol car owners have witnessed inflation busting increases at the pumps of 14.8% and 12.6%
respectively. However, the Index has identified one small crumb of comfort for new car owners with an
improvement in fuel consumption of 2.7% -slightly offsetting the steep rise in fuel prices.

RAC motoring strategist Adrian Tink commented: “Rises in the cost of motoring for Britain’s 34 million drivers
shows no sign of ending. Owning a car is a necessity for most people but they’re once again being hit in their
pockets – this time by an increase in costs which is double the rate of inflation.

“Fuel continues to be a major contributor in the rising costs, with little being done to control the spiralling prices
at the pumps. It’s time for the Government to look closely at the problem and take action, starting by cancelling
the planned fuel duty rise of 0.76p in January 2011.

“Motorists will continue to be hit hard in the New Year with the additional rise in VAT to 20%. This is likely to
take us into a new era of record petrol prices, which is why it is vital the Government takes a close look at the
issue to help end the war on motorists’ pockets.”

 Used Cars
Overall, used cars continue to be considerably cheaper to own than an equivalent new vehicle. The ownership
cost of a used car is now £4,441 or £85.41 per week. This figures is £1,428 (24%) cheaper than for a new vehicle.
Year-on-year, despite increases in fuel, insurance and maintenance costs, there has actually been a small reduction
                                                                      Page 89/138

(£18) in used cars costs since 2009. This is explained by the fact that depreciation on used cars fell 14.2% in 2010
as a result of prices in the used car market falling from the 2009 highs.

When looking at the running costs, used cars are actually £553 more expensive to run than new cars. This is
primarily due to maintenance costs which are considerably higher (£437) because of the added wear and tear on
older vehicles. Also, fuel consumption is worse and insurance is more expensive on older vehicles.

Dramatic Increase In Road Accidents Due To Fog And Ice
Staveley Head have reported this week’s ice and fog in the south of England has once again
brought chaos to the roads. Many drivers, unused to dealing with the wintry conditions, have
again been caught unprepared for the onset of winter.
(PRWEB) November 24, 2010 -- Staveley Head have reported this week’s ice and fog in the south of England has
once again brought chaos to the roads. Many drivers, unused to dealing with the wintry conditions, have again
been caught unprepared for the onset of winter.

The AA estimated that they had 13,000 call-outs to breakdowns on Tuesday, a third higher than usual. It is
thought the increase was due to minor accidents caused by drivers going too fast in hazardous conditions and an
increase in home-start call-outs. Apparently most of the accidents occurred on B-roads which have a lower local
authority priority for gritting.

The long cold spell experienced last winter caused problems for many local authorities as stocks of salt ran
dangerously low and had to be rationed. In the wake of that problem the Department for Transport (DfT) issued
advice that local authorities should hold sufficient stocks of salt to carry out 48 de-icing runs over a 12 days
period. Local authorities do of course prioritise the gritting of road, giving first attention to motorways and main
thoroughfares and working down to B and local roads.

In the midlands there have been four reported cases of what has become known as “frosting”. This is when a
driver leaves his car engine running to defrost the windows and leaves the vehicle unattended, at which time a
passing opportunist is easily able to steal the vehicle.

A spokesman for Staveley Head, one of the UK’s leading motor trade insurance providers, said “The number of
accidents occurring on icy roads in Winter could be reduced considerably if only drivers would remain more
aware of the conditions in which they are driving. Reduce speed and think ahead. It takes ten times longer to stop
on an icy road than it does on a normal road. Before leaving the driveway make sure all windows are fully
defrosted and have good visibility, all lights and wipers are working and the car engine is running at normal
temperature.”

Some sources are predicting an even colder winter than we had last year, and this is just the start of it. In the
coming months local authorities must ensure that roads are gritted quickly and thoroughly, but drivers can also
play their part by acting responsibly and recognising the added dangers on icy roads and adjusting their driving
patterns accordingly.

Eclipse's Proclaim Case Management and ClaimWatch Now Seamlessly Linked
Eclipse Legal Systems and ClaimWatch Ltd have announced seamless integration between the
award-winning ClaimWatch and Eclipse Proclaim Case Management software systems.
(PRWeb UK) November 24, 2010 -- The two products are widely regarded as market-leaders in their fields
(ClaimWatch for online vehicle repair tracking, and Proclaim for management of accident and injury claims).
The new integration link has undergone a successful eight-week pilot within one of the UK's largest accident
repair groups, and is now available to other work providers who use Proclaim and ClaimWatch.

ClaimWatch is a web-based tracking package used by the bodyshop industry to keep insurer systems and
policyholders up-to-date with the repair status of their vehicle(s), twenty-four hours a day. The system provides
text message updates and a complete personal online view of vehicle repair progress. Proclaim is the leading
solution for managing accident claims within legal and accident management companies, and integrates a core
CRM system with document production and ongoing task management.

By using the two systems in tandem, accident management companies have access to a powerful integrated
platform for FNOL, claims tracking, customer care, management reporting, and all aspects of the repair process.
Repetition of data entry is negated, and a workflow system automatically triggers 'next steps' to progress cases
with as little wastage as possible.

ClaimWatch's Managing Director, Steve Wheele, comments:

“The sophisticated yet simple way ClaimWatch utilises text messaging and the internet integrates perfectly with
Proclaim to feed through automatic updates. Together with Proclaim we now have a real opportunity of
completing the circle, potentially helping to save Insurers huge amounts of time and money on Claim centre
resources.

This helps put us and our customers in control, releasing staff from answering dozens of routine queries and
giving the bodyshop a very professional image. It really is a win-win situation for everyone.”

Russell Thomson, Chief Business Executive at Eclipse, adds:

“We are always interested in building integration with complementary and respected systems. We have an 'open
systems' ethos here at Eclipse, and ClaimWatch - with its excellent reputation in the repair market - fits the bill
perfectly. By linking Proclaim with ClaimWatch we are now providing not only a market-leading claims
management system, but we are also providing an important window into the repair shops themselves.

The link we have built is a true integration, created using Web Services for seamless two-way data sharing. I am
confident we can jointly bring benefit beyond the single insurer solution to the wider market, and many work
providers will come to regard this as a vital addition to their software processes.”

UK's New "11" Number Plates Release Generates Unprecedented Demand
The 2011 UK car registrations are to be released for sale on 7th December. This release includes
an unusually high number of character combinations resembling words and names. Top UK
supplier Regtransfers.co.uk reports exceptional demand and a record number of pre-orders.
Dunstable, Bedfordshire (PRWEB) November 19, 2010 -- An outstanding choice of car registrations offering
excellent representations of names and words has generated unprecedented interest from UK drivers. The
imminent release of the "11" series number plates for the first half of 2011 has been greeted with great enthusiasm
and top number plates dealer Regtransfers.co.uk reports a record-breaking number of pre-orders, despite the fact
that the release date is not until December 7th 2010.

The current UK vehicle registration system means that there are two releases each year, one to cover vehicles
registered in the first half of the year, and one for those registered in the second. For 2011 the series due for
release are "11" and "61".

Regtransfers marketing manager Angela Banh said, "This is the best release for years. It's a massive opportunity
for buyers to snap up some amazing number plates that have never been available before. People seem really
excited, and in some cases we've had several callers enquiring about the same plates. It looks as if competition is
going to be pretty fierce."

The unusual level of interest is largely due to the close resemblance borne by many "11" registrations to common
names and words. Amongst those that may be included in the December release are: DO11 ALD (Donald), BU11
DOG (bulldog), TA11 BOY (tall boy), LO11 DON (London), WA11 ACE (Wallace), BA11 OON (balloon),
BE11 AMY (Bellamy) and thousands more.

"11" registrations may be pre-ordered on the Regtransfers website at http://www.regtransfers.co.uk/11

Delivery Auction Website Anyvan.com Wins Website Of The Year Award 2010
Delivery auction website Anyvan.com, which specialises in courier services, removals and
furniture delivery, has been crowned Website of the Year 2010 by The Good Web Guide.
(PRWeb UK) November 19, 2010 -- Delivery auction website Anyvan.com, which specialises in courier services,
removals and furniture delivery, has been crowned Website of the Year 2010 by The Good Web Guide.

Anyvan.com founder Angus Elphinstone, 27, rubbed shoulders with dozens of web entrepreneurs at the Royal
Institute in London for the event, which celebrated the most innovative websites in the UK.

The shipping and vehicle delivery website, which connects people who need to ship something with transport
providers who have empty space in their vans, beat off stiff competition from the likes of Ooh.com and
Findababysitter.com.

The winner of Website of the Year 2010 was announced by ex-Dragon’s Den panel member, Doug Richard, who
said: “Entrepreneurs see problems and manufacture opportunities. They come up with innovations the world has
never seen before, and they put them to work.

“Anyvan.com saves money, time and natural resources by connecting those who want to ship something with
those who transport things for a living. A simple thought, a simple online solution, a critical change in the
logistics of transport, not just for London, but the UK.”

The grand prize included £1,000 in cash to spend on the business and £500 of advertising, as well as a full SEO
audit.

Angus Elphinstone commented: “We are tremendously proud that Anyvan.com has been so well received by the
judges, especially given the competition on the night.

“The concept was born from the fact that 50% of vans on UK roads travel half full. Filling up that space not only
has obvious benefits for the environment, but also for transport providers who can make extra cash and customers
who can have their items moved at a fraction of the cost.

“The fact that Anyvan.com is now an award-winning website will do wonders for our brand, and hopefully the
humble man and van too!”

About Anyvan:

Anyvan is the free delivery auction website that matches customers who need goods moving, whether locally
nationally or internationally, with courier companies already making a similar journey — saving both money and
CO2 emissions.
                                                                     Page 101/138

Tetronics to Supply Plasma Hazardous Waste Treatment Technology for UKs
First Green Energy Park
The technology will turn the Air Pollution Control (APC) residue generated from the Biomass
Power Plant into bricks and tiles for the building industry, thereby; ensuring close to zero
residues need to be landfilled.
(PRWEB) November 16, 2010 -- Tetronics Ltd., a global leader in the supply of Direct Current (DC) plasma
waste recovery plants for the treatment of hazardous waste and metal recovery, has been selected by Peterborough
Renewable Energy Ltd (PREL) to provide the plasma technology for Energy Park Peterborough, the first
sustainable biomass power plant of its kind in the UK.

Energy Park Peterborough, which was granted consent by the Government Department for Energy and Climate
Change (DECC) in November 2009, will take in mixed waste and - through a combination of recycling,
gasification and plasma-enhanced waste recovery - recycle and remanufacture it, producing reusable products and
renewable energy in the process. Energy Park Peterborough alone will save 600,000 tonnes of CO2 per year,
create over 100 green collar jobs in the local community and produce enough renewable energy to power 60,000
homes.

Air Pollution Control (APC) residues, are generated from processes associated with the operation of Solid Waste
combustion (approximately 80% generated by this route) and other thermal waste treatments. They are classified
as hazardous waste as they can cause lung damage and skin irritations. APC residues typically account for
approximately 3.5-5% by weight of waste throughput for thermal treatment technologies. The process chemistry
in Tetronics’ plasmaenhanced waste recovery technology is designed to separate and destroy all the hazardous
components leaving a totally safe nonhazardous material similar to granite. This non-hazardous product called
Plasmarok™ can then be re-used as a building aggregate in a range of building applications so completing the
sustainability cycle.

The project, due to begin in the first quarter of 2011, will be constructed around four key suppliers working in
partnership with PREL, which is a subsidiary of Green Energy Parks (GEP). Each partner will provide specialised
technology that will be instrumental in the energy recovery process and ensuring close to 100% recycling.
Tetronics is currently conducting the preliminary engineering work for their contribution to the project.

Stephen Davies, CEO for Tetronics explained; “We are very proud to have been selected as one of the suppliers
for this pioneering initiative that will be leading the way for future projects of its kind. Tetronics has decades of
experience processing problematic hazardous wastes, such as the APC residue that is applicable in this project and
we are very confident the development will be the flagship for numerous projects to follow.”

Speaking about the appointment Chris Williams, Managing Director for PREL said, “Tetronics’
plasma-enhanced waste treatment technology has been the final piece to the puzzle ensuring the absolute
minimum of residues from the treatment process that need to be landfilled. Tetronics’ contribution has been vital
in guaranteeing a practically zero waste facility is achieved.”

                                                                     Page 104/138

 Notes for Editors
 About PREL and GEP
Peterborough Renewable Energy Limited (PREL) was established in 2002 by a group of Peterborough business
men to realise their passion for managing material in an environmentally friendly manner, minimising the need
for landfill. Energy Park Peterborough marks the first step in making this vision a reality.

In 2010 PREL formed Green Energy Parks (GEP) to develop and expand the model nationwide. If rolled out to
achieve the 4000mw of biomass power needed to meet the renewable requirement for 2020 for the UK, GEP is
confident that a network of energy parks could deliver a saving of 36 million tonnes of green house gases and
create over 5000 jobs.

For more information about PREL and GEP, please visit the website at: www.greenenergyparks.co.uk.

 About Tetronics
Tetronics is a global leader in the supply of Waste Recovery Plants. We have the capability to manage the
complete deployment lifecycle of a Waste Recovery Plant from initial testing of the waste material at Tetronics’
test facility, the most comprehensive in Europe, through to the physical onsite installation of a full commercial
plant and support. Tetronics uses its patented Plasma Arc technology to transform waste material including:
hazardous waste into environmentally safe building aggregate, precious metal recovery from spent catalysts,
energy recovery from waste oil, reducing the volume of radioactive waste and improving the quality and
efficiency of steel.

 How do we do it?
Tetronics’ patented Direct Current (DC) Plasma Arc plant technology provides the closest solution to Zero Waste
currently available. This sustainable “green” alternative for waste management uses ultra-high temperatures to
melt, gasifiy or vaporise any waste material, in order to treat, recover or generate valuable commercial products.
Our technology has been tried and tested over five decades and has been used globally in more than 80 plants
across a wide and varied range of applications.

Confused.com Urges the Government to Help Fight Rising Car Insurance Costs
Confused.com calls on government for collaborative approach as it tackles increasing car
insurance premiums.
Cardiff, Wales (PRWEB) November 14, 2010 -- Confused.com has urged the government to work with insurance
providers, regulatory bodies and associations including the DVLA in an effort to halt the steep rises in car
insurance premiums.

Giving evidence to the Transport Committee Inquiry into the cost of car insurance (http://www.confused.com/)
Will Thomas, head of motor at Confused.com, told the committee it was essential the reasons for the prices were
tackled with a collaborative approach.

The most recent Confused.com price index revealed premiums have risen 37% since this time last year. Factors
such as increasing costs of claims, more injury payouts and increasing fraud have created a situation where many
providers are operating at a loss and insurance providers have reacted strongly to move towards a profitable
model.

As part of its evidence, the price comparison site proposed a series of steps which it believes could help stabilise
the cost of motor insurance prices going forward, including higher deterrents for uninsured drivers; more
education and support for young drivers; improved data sharing and a review of the Pass Plus scheme which has
started to become less of a desired qualification with some insurers as they don't see the benefit in lowered risk.

Confused.com also laid out what it believes will be the consequences if insurance premiums continue to rise,
specifically more uninsured drivers, more underinsurance and more fraud.

Will Thomas, head of motor at Confused.com said: "This enquiry is not before time, with our index showing
prices have risen by 37.5% in the last 12 months, with premiums now standing at £650 on average. 17 - 20 year
olds have seen prices rise by a massive £616 over the last 12 months.

"Uninsured driving is one of the biggest consequences of the price hike. If insurance providers continue raising
their prices then consumers will need an alternative solution or they may be tempted to go without. The
consequences of gambling with cover are not worth it. Those struggling to pay for insurance will be unable to
afford to repair their vehicle or any vehicle in the event of an accident, which is putting more pressure on
struggling insurance companies."

King Long UK Launch XMQ 6800 Rear Engined 'Mini Marvel' Luxury Coach
King Long UK has launched a new luxury 29/31 seater mini coach. The XMQ 6800 coach is
priced at £94,950 with a five year warranty as standard.
(PRWEB) November 13, 2010 -- Luxury coach manufacturer King Long is launching a new mini coach at
Eurobus 2010 which, it says will ‘offer something exceptional to appeal to every coach operator’.

The XMQ 6800 coach is a 29/31 seater, priced at £94,950 with a five year warranty as standard.

The rear engined design means that the XMQ6800 has the performance and features you would expect on a
larger coach – huge luggage capacity, comfortable and quiet ride for every passenger with lots of interior space as
well as a great driving position for the driver. Powered by a Cummins ISBe5 207Bhp engine, the 6800 includes a
6 speed manual gearbox, luxury leather seats and air conditioning as standard.

“We’ve researched the market and cannot find a competitor for this quality of mini coach. No other vehicle
matches its price and specification combination. It’s a luxury coach in a condensed chassis. It fills a gap in the
market exceptionally well. For the small coach or mini bus operator, the 6800 is the natural step up to offering
extra quality to attract new customers. For the larger operators, it meets the need to offer a compact luxury coach
within their fleet." said Paul Bicknell, Marketing Director for King Long in the UK.

“Apart from the five year warranty King Long has an extensive network of dealerships, service and after sales
dealers in the UK.” added Bicknell.

More information on King Long UK is available on http://kinglonguk.com/.

King Long UK Sets Industry First with Five Year Warranty as Standard on All
Vehicles
King Long UK has become the first manufacturer to offer a 5 year warranty as standard on all its
new buses and coaches.
(PRWEB) November 12, 2010 -- King Long UK has become the first company to provide a five year warranty as
standard on all of its new coaches and buses in the UK.

King Long manufacturers over 30,000 vehicles per annum and is building upon an enviable reputation for quality
and reliability throughout its growing European customer base and, as a relatively new player in the market
place, is demonstrating the ability to break new ground with high quality luxury vehicles and low prices.

In the UK King Long has established ten premier dealerships and 44 service and after sales dealers. Prices in the
UK start from £94,950 for the new 6800, a rear engined luxury coach.

Paul Bicknell, Marketing Director for King Long UK said,
“We are determined to develop a compelling proposition for King Long coaches and buses positioning them as
the most attractive and logical purchase. A five year warranty on buses and luxury coaches as standard is unique.
It represents a key milestone for King Long and for our customers. We passionately believe in the integrity,
quality and reliability built-in therefore the five year standard warranty is us being able to translate this with
confidence into a concrete and tangible customer benefit.

From our customers perspective it adds predictability to their total cost of ownership considerations. A typical
lease for five years would now mean that any vehicle would still be within warranty. This offers peace of mind to
businesses needing to plan ahead financially, especially in an uncertain economy. By reducing the risks King
Long is leading the way on price and value for money for the levels of luxury and specification throughout our
range."

etyres Video Shows How Easy Changing a Tyre Can Be
etyres has released an online video that shows changing a tyre on a car is so easy a child can do
it
Cambridge, England (PRWEB) November 6, 2010 -- etyres, the UK's leading online tyre retailer, has released a
short online video showing motorists how changing a tyre is so easy even a child can do it.

Most motorists dread the idea of getting a puncture and being stranded at the roadside waiting for a breakdown
truck.

Now etyres has released a short online video which shows drivers how they can fit their spare wheel in a matter
of minutes and be back on the road in no time.

And to demonstrate just how easy it is, the entire procedure is filmed being carried out by 10-year-old William
Stepney.

Tony Bowman, managing director of etyres, said: "Many motorists are under the false impression that only
qualified mechanics or big strong men with bulging biceps can change a tyre - but this video dispels that myth.

"All you need to be armed with is the basic knowledge of how to carry out this straightforward procedure and if
you follow our step-by-step guide you will never have to worry about being stranded at the side of the road with a
puncture again."

The short video covers everything from what tools are needed to complete the job to tips on fitting and tightening
the wheel nuts.

Once the spare has been fitted, the motorist can drive home safely and shop around for the best deal on a
replacement tyre, rather than having to pay an extortionate fee charged by the recovery garage.

There is another money-saving advantage to being able to replace a punctured tyre with the spare - it could
preserve the condition of the tyre so that it can be repaired.

Another common misconception is that all punctured tyres (http://www.etyres.co.uk/) have to be thrown away -
this is not the case, especially if the damaged tyre has been switched with the spare as quickly as possible and not
driven far.

If the damage has occurred in the tread area of a tyre it is possible for it to be repaired safely and cheaply, often at
a fraction of the cost of a new replacement.

All etyres mobile fitting vans are equipped with puncture repair facilities which enable minor tread repairs to be
repaired to BSAU 159 standard.

                                                                     Page 121/138

 About etyres
Launched in 1997, etyres is the UK's first online tyres retailer. It operates a mobile fitting service, which means
customers can have their tyres fitted at a location of their choice - either at their home or place of work. etyres can
fit tyres all over the country, whether customers need tyres in Bradford (
http://www.etyres.co.uk/towns/bradford/tyres-in-bradford-area.html ) or tyres in Huddersfield (
http://www.etyres.co.uk/towns/huddersfield/tyres-in-huddersfield-area.html).

Its low overheads mean the price customers pay is always low - up to 40% cheaper than the leading high street
tyre depots on a range of tires including Continental tyres (http://www.etyres.co.uk/tyres/continental) and 4x4
tyres (http://www.etyres.co.uk/4x4-tyres-vehicles).

"Time To Switch To Winter Tyres" says the UK Government
The Government is recommending that now is the time for motorists to switch to winter tyres. The
recommendation comes as a result of a report commissioned in March of this year by the
Secretary of State for Transport, Philip Hammond, which undertook a review of the resilience of
England’s infrastructure during the winter period. The report also calls on industry to develop
technical solutions to enable transport systems to cope more effectively with increasingly harsh
winter conditions.
(PRWEB) November 5, 2010 -- The Government is recommending that now is the time for motorists to switch to
winter tyres. The recommendation comes as a result of a report commissioned in March of this year by the
Secretary of State for Transport, Philip Hammond, which undertook a review of the resilience of England’s
infrastructure during the winter period. The report also calls on industry to develop technical solutions to enable
transport systems to cope more effectively with increasingly harsh winter conditions.

The report, which records the results of consultations with 132 private and public sector organisations, was
commissioned in consequence of some of the severest conditions recorded in over thirty years experienced
during the winter of 2008/9.

Tests have proven the benefits and increased efficiencies of winter tyres used in conditions which drop below
7degs C. Due to the fact that the tyre compound does not harden in cold conditions, which is the case with normal
tyres, road grip is significantly increased and stopping distances consequently reduced. Test results indicated that
stopping distances were reduced by 4.8 metres on wet roads and a staggering 11 metres on icy roads when
travelling at 20mph.

On the Continent drivers are routinely conditioned to automatically change to winter tyres at the onset of the
winter months, and in some countries it is required by law. Adopting a similar practice in this country would not
only assist drivers to keep moving on the roads through icy conditions, but also significantly reduce the number of
road accidents and casualties during the winter months.

A spokesman for Staveley Head Van Insurance, one of the UK’s leading comprehensive providers, said “We
know we’re going to have snow and ice on the roads every year, but when it happens the British motorist is
always taken by surprise. Perhaps it is because the snow and ice only lasts for a few days, usually, that we don’t
prepare better.

But the chaos we experience for those few days really should persuade us to take better precautions. Tyre
manufacturers now produce an extensive range of winter tyres and we do recommend that commercial vehicle
drivers, at the very least, take advantage of this option.”

Narrow Tracked Access Platforms Now on Self Drive Truck Package
Smart Platform Rental Ltd, has announced the launch of an entirely new offering; narrow tracked
access cherry pickers as part of a self drive truck package. Ideal for interior work in atriums to
the backs of properties or other sites that had narrow access or point loading issues.
(PRWEB) November 3, 2010 -- Smart Platform Rental Ltd, the UK’s largest provider of light truck mount self
drive rental platforms, has recently announced the launch of an entirely new offering; narrow access cherry
pickers as part of a self drive truck package. ‘We’ve wanted to offer the accessibility of a tracked boom combined
with the mobility of a truck mount for quite some time.’ stated Guy Willett, Smart’s Commercial Director. ‘Much
of our clientele, from tree surgeons to facilities management contractors, had expressed an interest in being able to
use platforms where our truck mounts couldn’t access. This ranged from interior work in atriums to the backs of
properties or other sites that had narrow access or point loading issues.’

The first challenge for Smart was in sourcing a package that could also be used on a self drive and self operated
package like their truck mounts. ‘It was vital that we offer the most capable narrow access platform available
whilst the overall package kept to the 3.5 tonne limit; thus meaning anyone could drive the away the platform on
it’s carrier vehicle using just a standard driving licence,’ emphasised Willett. The company’s extensive research
led them to the Italian specialist tracked machine manufacturer Hinowa. ‘Their 14.72 Light Lift really impressed
us with a maximum working height of 13.9m and outreach of 6.7m and yet weighs in at under 1.4 tonnes.
However, the features that really won us over were the one touch auto stabilisation for setting up and down which
makes operating very simple along with the platform being able to fit through openings of only 85cm wide.’

The next issue was to locate a carrier vehicle that would make loading and unloading easy whilst not adversely
affecting the truck’s driving characteristics. After an exhaustive search of the specialist vehicle market Smart
approached a UK custom vehicle builder and had a flatbed Citroen Relay bespoke to fit the exact dimensions of
the cherry picker. ‘The vehicle has been custom built with a very low flatbed height, an integrated skid system,
purpose built stops and integrated ratchet straps that all contribute to both simple operation and secure
loading/unloading and transit.’

The next step for Smart will be in the adoption of this new access package within the sectors they serve and since
its launch last month at the Saltex exhibition in Windsor it has generated a great deal of interest. ‘From just £124
per day for hire of the platform we’re highly competitive in the tracked access market and with the addition of a
carrier unit we believe a lot more people will be drawn to using this form of powered access. However, as with all
innovations people will want to see the platform in action which is why we’re offering no obligation free site
demos. From this many customers can visualise the potential of being able to conduct several challenging jobs at
height all under the one hire; much like our truck mounts.’

Early indications from the first hires of the tracked self drive package are very favourable. ‘We found the
simplicity of controls, self levelling capability and removable basket all contributed to a very convenient and easy
access solution for a task we couldn’t have undertaken with Smart’s truck mounts that we regularly hire’ stated
Alan Britchford of Moore Security Services, the NT14’s first hirer. ‘We’ve already been recommending it to
others to address their narrow access requirements and foresee that we’ll have a regular need for it on certain
                                                                     Page 126/138

jobs,’ said Britchford. It’s a great addition to Smart’s fleet and being available on a self drive basis maintains all
the advantages of reducing overheads whilst maximising convenience and control’, added Britchford.

User Licences for One UK Pound
Business management software specialist Concentrix Ltd is offering UK organisations three user
licences of the mid-market ERP suite Microsoft Dynamics NAV, for just one British pound (GBP).
Concentrix is also offering to implement, train and support users at significantly reduced rates.
(PRWEB) October 31, 2010 -- Business management software specialist Concentrix Ltd is offering UK
organisations three user licences of the mid-market ERP suite Microsoft Dynamics NAV, for just one British
pound (GBP). Concentrix is also offering to implement, train and support users at significantly reduced rates.

Concentrix has timed the offer to coincide with the release of Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2 – the latest
version of the product. The offer aims to help businesses get started with Microsoft Dynamics NAV, and is open
to any organisation that hasn’t previously purchased it.

Chris Smith, Senior ERP Consultant at Concentrix said “The latest version of Microsoft Dynamics NAV helps
everyone in an organisation work together and work more productively. It has some great new features, for
example it’s easier than ever for remote users to access the product, there's built-in integration with Microsoft
Dynamics CRM, it supports online payment services and can produce outstanding data visualisations.”

Concentrix has been running the offer since early October, and has already had a great amount of interest from
companies looking to improve their businesses through ERP software.

Smith continues “We’ve only been running the offer for a couple of weeks and we’ve already had people
contacting us from a whole range of organisations. Many of the enquiries have come from smaller businesses. The
offer shows that both Concentrix and Microsoft are committed to smaller and mid-sized businesses, which this
type of ERP solution hasn’t necessarily been associated with.”

Concentrix provides a selection of ERP, CRM and Business Intelligence solutions. Because they are independent
and not tied to any particular software vendor or supplier, they will always recommend the most suitable software
solution for their clients' business objectives, processes and strategies.

Smith concludes “We all know some organisations are finding the current economic conditions challenging. But
Concentrix is all about helping businesses improve, and Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2 gives our clients a
powerful tool to streamline their processes and drive their businesses forward. By offering three licences for just a
pound, Concentrix is providing a great chance for almost any company of any size to get started with Microsoft
Dynamics NAV.”

Concentrix is running the three licences for a pound promotion in association with Microsoft UK. The offer will
continue until the 23rd December 2010. For more information about the Concentrix Microsoft Dynamics NAV
