in Planning Faculty (CTUP) Director: Jan Evert Nilsson
                         (janevert.nilsson@jena.se)
The Centre for Territorial Development Planning aims to
contribute in developing strategic planning as a useful
political tool. The role of planning is not to achieve a
predetermined state in a defined period of time; rather, the
challenge is to gain some control over the ongoing process
of social and economic transformation. In developing such a
strategy knowledge from both architecture and the social
                         sciences must be utilised.
The Centre for Territorial Development Planning undertakes
contracted research on behalf of public authorities, private
corporations and international institutions. CTUP also offers
                         courses to external actors.
