With the aim of explaining the practical and organizing aspects related with the XVII
International Scientific Congress of the National Institute of Agricultural Sciences
(INCA), that will be held between November 22 and 26, 2010 at his headquarters in San
José de las Lajas, Havana, is offered to all national and foreigner participants the following

In addition, Masterly Conferences of general interest will be lectured by Cuban relevant
scientific figures, besides celebrating Satellite Meetings of Networks, Associations and
Working Groups related with national and regional agriculture programs. Also, it will be
continued the Books and Technical Multimedia Presentations, as in former
Congresses.


                 OFFICIAL LANGUAGE OF THE CONGRESS
                     Every scientific activity will be presented in Spanish.


                                PAPER PRESENTATION
Papers may be presented either as Oral communications or as Posters, and just one
paper as first author. In both cases, a Short Summary (up to 250 words) and an
Expanded Summary (not surpassing 10 pages), only by e-format, together with the
Registration Coupon should be sent to the Organizing Committee before July 15, 2010.
Nevertheless, applicants are requested to send them as soon as possible, to make paper
selection feasible. Presentation rules are detailed as follows for both summaries.
Awards will be given to the best papers presented as Posters in each Symposium and
Workshop by an appointed Jury, taking into account design and presentation, as well as
content and relevance of selected papers.


                                     Short Summary Rules

  TITLE (Arial 12): SINGLE-SPACED LINES OF CAPITAL LETTERS IN BOLD

The short summary, in single block, should not exceed 250 words in Arial 11, on single-
spaced lines, 21,0 x 29,7 cm sheets (US letter-size), with all margins set at 2,5 cm. The
text must present objectives, current status of the subject, methods or techniques
employed and results, besides including three key words at the end to identify the paper.
Key words: first, second, third (Arial 11 in bold type)

                                  Expanded Summary Rules

The text should be written in Spanish using Arial 11 on single-spaced lines, 21,0 x 29,7
cm sheets (US letter-size), with all margins set at 2,5 cm. It should not exceed ten sheets,
including tables and graphs, which must be inserted inside the text. Graph titles should
appear at the bottom, whereas table titles at the top. International Unit System must be
used. Tables and graphs sent in separate files will not be accepted.
           Complementary instructions on the expanded summary contents:
Title: It should briefly present work subject and include some adequate key words. Authors
should write their full names, following short summary rules, and their corresponding
affiliation.
Introduction: It should briefly indicate work motivation, significance and purposes to the
reader.
Materials and Methods: It should explain the methodology, giving some emphasis just to
the most important aspects and, whenever possible, referring to conventional methods
without describing them. It is essential to explain how experimental data have been
evaluated and analyzed.
Results and Discussion: It should describe the most striking observations and discuss
each relevant result related to the hypothesis stated, objectives and previous literature
reviewed.
References: The writing rules should be: author, title, publication, pages and year.

                                          Poster Rules

Size: Posters should have a 0,90 m (wide) x 1,00 m (long) area.
Title and affiliation: Title letters should be at least 2,5 cm high in dark ink, contrasting
with the other parts of the poster, and also include authors’ or speaker’s name and
institutional affiliation in a smaller letter type.
Body: Graph and table headlines as well as the text should be at least 1 cm high, so that
they can be read 2 m far away; besides, avoiding complex paragraphs or sentences.
Graph, tables and photos: Their letters and numbers should follow the same rules as the
text.
Additional information: It is desirable to write speaker’s or authors’ e-mail in the poster
for identity purposes and further correspondence.

Cuban delegates may ask for round-trip bus transportation service from different central
places of Havana City to the Congress headquarters. Likewise, delegates from other
provinces of Cuba will reckon with some accommodations, however limited, so that those
interested in making any reservation should send their application to the Organizing
Committee who will provide them according to available facilities.

The prices mentioned above refer to each person per night in CUC, which will be only
valid from November 1 to 30, 2010, besides fulfilling the regulations established by
Cubanacán Travel Agency´s Business Board and Cuban Ministry of Tourism for the
adjustments, payments and cancellations policy, including the following detailed
services:
       A room & breakfast plan accommodation is provided in all the hotels offered.
       Transportation from Havana International Airport to the hotel previously booked
        (the guest should report the flight date and number while making the reservation or
        at least notify it 72 hours before the arrival).
       Transportation from the hotel to the Havana International Airport (the guest should
        report the flight date and number at least 72 hours before the departure; also the
        guest will be waiting in the hotel lobby for three hours earlier to be taken to the
        airport in time).
       Participants in Pre-Congress Courses at INCA on November 22 (Monday) will be
        transported in groups from the hotel by an air-conditioned bus with a specialized
        guide at 7:30 am; later on, they will be back to the hotel after finishing them.
       Participants in scientific and social activities of the Congress at INCA (November
        23-26) will be transported in groups every day from the hotel by an air-conditioned
        bus with a specialized guide at 7:30 am; later on, they will be back to the hotel after
        finishing them at 17:30 pm, except the day of “Cuban Night”, when they will come
        back at 23:00 pm.
       Assistance by Cubanacán Travel Agency staff is assured.
It´s not included:
       Air ticket to Cuba.

                             MIGRATORY REGULATIONS
People traveling to Cuba must have an updated passport or a travel document issued at
his name and a respective visa or tourist card, which can be obtained at any Cuban
Consulate Office worldwide and in some Travel Agencies and Airlines.

- Congress will be held between November 22 and 26, 2010.

- Payment should be done directly in Cuba to Cubanacán staff, at arriving to Havana, in
cash and CUC (Cuban Convertible Pesos).

- Lodging for pre- or post-Congress stay could be request one day before or one day after
Congress.

- Final custumers may request invitation letters for migratory procedures.

- All applications should be submited with no less than 72 hours before starting tourist
services; on the contrary hotel and transportation reservations can not be accomplish.
