RECRUITMENT:                  Marketing & Sales Administrator I (Manager, Trade Development/Liner Sales)

SALARY:                       $49,638.00 - $79,693.00 (Grade 19)

NATURE OF WORK:

The Maryland Port Administration (MPA) has a job opening for a dynamic and skilled marketing professional
for the position of Marketing Sales Administrator I (Manager, Trade Development/Liner Sales). This position
serves at the pleasure of the appointing authority and will be primarily responsible for increasing total volume
of import/export container cargos moving through the Port of Baltimore by servicing existing accounts,
increasing business from these accounts, developing through detailed analysis new business opportunities
with steamship lines currently not calling the Port, and developing new markets for the Port of Baltimore. The
responsibilities of these job functions will be handled in conjunction with the Port of Baltimore's Strategic Plan
which calls for the growth of the Ports' containers business. Having a good understanding of the Port of
Baltimore and the Maryland Port Administration’s terminals is extremely desirable.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION: Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Advertising, Mass
Communications, Business or related field from an accredited college or university.

EXPERIENCE: Seven years of professional sales and marketing experience, five years of which must have
been in the Transportation industry.

NOTES:

1. Professional sales and marketing work experience in the freight transportation or maritime industry may be
substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to four years of the required education.

2. Additional graduate education in Marketing, Public Relations, Advertising, Mass Communications or
Business at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of thirty credit hours for each
year of experience for up to two years of the required experience.

LICENSE: Employees in this classification are assigned duties that require the operation of a motor vehicle.
Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the
State of Maryland.
Ideal Candidate must have the following qualifications:
•      Able to work in a fast paced environment,
•      Travel domestically and/or internationally for extended periods of time
•      Strong communication skills, both oral and written
•      Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills
•      Must be enterprising; have ability to take initiatives
•      Knowledgeable and able to demonstrate the ability to work with computer applications to include
       Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the Piers data base system
•      Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
