Program description: Best Buy’s corporate campus in Minnesota is designed to maximize
traffic flow into and out of the facility and along bordering freeways and to discourage the use of
neighborhood streets for commuter traffic. Best Buy developed a travel demand management
plan to reduce the number of single-occupancy vehicles journeying to the work site during peak
travel periods. To encourage employees to use shared rides to work, the Best Buy campus
incorporates bicycle spaces and employee showers, a bus shelter and transportation kiosk,
building exits near bus stops, flexible work hours and schedules to reduce peak period travel,
preferential parking for carpools, and vanpool subsidies. Each site also employs a campus
transportation coordinator.
