In an interview, Mark Hafner, CFA's retiring chairman, talked about his career. He said that a lot of the challenges that they faced last year were financial. The economic times affected the attendance at events as well as their membership numbers which drove them into a financial issue. He thinks the ABL and factoring industries have continued to grow in their acceptance by the marketplace as a viable means of financing. Most every large bank and many smaller ones have an ABL and/or factoring division, and he thinks that speaks volumes to this. The CFA continues to work at enhancing the chapter program because he thinks all of those who serve on the Management and Executive Committees agree that it's key to the Association's future.
