									POSITION TITLE:                  Front Office Receptionist

REPORTS TO:                      Front Office/Medical Record Supervisor & Finance Supervisor

POSITION CLASSIFICATION: Nonexempt


POSITION SUMMARY

The Front Office receptionist is responsible for checking in patients according to CHC procedures;
ensure that all forms are signed with patient’s legal name. The Front Office receptionist is
responsible for ensuring that the correct patient’s chart is available at the time of check-in. This
includes but not limited to verifying patient’s legal name and date of birth.
The Front Office receptionist will make up new charts,
The Front Office receptionist is responsible for verification of sliding fee, collecting money,
verifying patient balances and transactions utilizing the IDX system. The Front Office personnel
will assist the Telephone Operators with overflow calls during busy. Front Office personnel are
responsible for writing up receipts for money collected and balancing the money and receipts at the
end of the day.

The Front Office personnel will understand and model the mission of the CHC.
The Front Office personnel will understand and practice the CHC’s policy on confidentiality in
respect to all CHC information.
The Front Office personnel will exhibit professional behavior in all facets of work at the CHC.
The Front Office personnel will exhibit teamwork with all CHC staff.

APPOINTMENTS

       1. Will schedule patient appointments as needed upon checkout
       2. Will schedule patient appointments per telephone as needed to help out telephone
          operators
       3. Will ensure that all screens and fields in the computer are filled out completely and
          accurately
       4. Will instruct patients on what needs to be brought in at time of appointment, i.e. proof of
          income, insurance cards, and $15.00 payment.
       5. Will collect the co-payments at time of service or make arrangements for payment.
       6. Will assist the patient with determining sliding fee eligibility.

         5.      Helps to look for misplaced charts.
         6.      Maintains patient confidentiality.

MISCELLANEOUS DUTIES:

        1.       Will print schedules for next day’s appointments utilizing special report 242
        2.       Will print call list to confirm appointments for next day utilizing special report 12.
        3.       Will remind patients when confirming appointments to bring in proof of income,
                 insurance cards and verification of income to determine eligibility for sliding fee.
        4.       Will ensure that blank charts are assembled in advance
        5.       Will work on making dividers for the charts
        6.       Will ensure that there are copies of all blank forms used on the chart
        7.       Other duties as assigned.
