YMCA Regional Swimming Championships Meet Information 2009 Pacific Region North YMCA Swimming Championships March 6, 7 & 8, 2009 Mount Hood Community College Aquatics Center Gresham, Oregon Hosts: Sherwood Swimming Association/Sherwood Regional Family YMCA What is the YMCA Regional Championship Meet? For many of our swimmers, this is the biggest meet of the year. Held each year in March, usually this is a travel meet for WSY Dolphins, the location varies by year. Typical locations are Washington State, Oregon and Idaho. All Pacific Region North YMCA swim teams in the states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and Alaska are invited. You can find your swimmers meet results on the website under “my meet results” if you want to check if they have qualified yet. There are three additional meets to qualify to Regional’s. YMCA State Meet (1/31), February Challenge (2/7-2/8), and Rainbow Classic (2/14-2/15). See website to sign up for February Challenge and Rainbow Classic (deadline 1/25). Registration Date: February 1st* **Swimmers who have not yet qualified for Regionals, will have a final opportunity at Rainbow Classic on Feb 14&15 to qualify. We highly recommend, if you are available to make this meet, even if your swimmer has not yet qualified to register that you can “attend this event” on the web site, as well as make your room reservations. This will help us in planning room and transportation logistics. You can cancel both until mid February. Cost: 11 and Over Swimmers: $80.00 (Includes Sat breakfast & lunch, Sun breakfast & lunch, Regional Gift, transportation, event registration) 10 and Under Swimmers: $60.00 (Includes Sat. breakfast & lunch, Sun. breakfast & lunch, Regional Gift, transportation, event registration) Bus Passengers (non chaperones, as space permits): $20.00 (Includes Sat breakfast, Sun breakfast, transportation) Travel: All 11 and Over Swimmers (remember that this is competition age) are expected to travel on the team bus. 10 and under swimmers can travel on the bus if so desired. We have parents serving as chaperones during the transportation of the swimmers, all parents or guardians must sign in swimmers on March 6th, and sign out swimmers at the YMCA on March th 8th. If parents or guardians do not sign in swimmers at the bus on Friday March 6 , swimmers will not be permitted to ride on the team bus. Bus Schedule: Departs Friday March 6th at 9:30am (please show up at 8:50am) from the West Seattle YMCA. Bus will be departing immediately following competition Sunday approximately around 4:00pm. Swimmers will call home Sunday afternoon to let parents know what time to expect then at the West Seattle YMCA Sunday evening. A more detailed itinerary once final entries are complete in Mid February. Lodging: Please note family members are responsible for reserving and paying for their own rooms. We have reserved 33 rooms at the Comfort Inn for the 2009 YMCA Regional Swim Meet. Families are expected to stay at this hotel so that the team can best participate in coaches meetings, team dinners, and team breakfasts together. In addition, swimmer transportation to and from the pool will be from the Comfort Inn. Please note, if you are unable to attend this travel meet with your swimmer, please discuss with Coach Rod directly. Rooms sell out very quickly as the meet gets closer, please reserve your room reservation as soon as possible. Lunch and snack items will be provided for all swimmers at the swim meet Saturday and Sunday. We will be having a team dinner on Saturday night, following the meet. More details to come later. Volunteer Information: We will have volunteer positions available for this meet, if you have not yet fulfilled your volunteer hours required for the year, this is a great opportunity to do so. Examples of positions available are timers during the meet, chaperones during the bus ride (bus transportation cost is waived for these positions), and a food coordinator.
