                         PERSONAL FINANCE SCHOLARSHIP

The Colorado Business Bank in Littleton, Colorado will present a $1,000 scholarship to
one senior that has successfully completed the Personal Finance course at Arapahoe
High School. The one-year scholarship will be awarded annually. This will be the fourth
year of this scholarship.

The scholarship application and required attachments must be completed in full by the
applicant and submitted in person to Jan Lewallen in the Arapahoe Guidance
Department. Only original documents will be accepted, no e-mail or faxed material.

I. Scholarship
This scholarship offered by Colorado Business Bank – Littleton, is a one-year
scholarship available to one senior that has successfully completed the Personal
Finance course at Arapahoe High School and enrolls in an institution of higher learning.

II. Purpose of the Scholarship Program
Youth in the United States are facing an increasingly complex and perilous financial
world. A vast majority of American youth lack the basic knowledge and skills to make
intelligent, informed decisions about their finances. Colorado Business Bank – Littleton
strongly believes in the importance of financial literacy for today’s youth to help them be
successful in their lives ahead.

III. Terms Under Which Scholarships are Awarded
   1. Applications must be submitted on the required application form, with all required
      additional information attached.
   2. Applications must be submitted in person to the Guidance Dept. at Arapahoe
      High School. All application documents must be originals. No e-mail or faxed
      materials will be accepted. There will be two application deadlines; one in the Fall
      and one in the Spring. Fall applications will be collected and reviewed in the
      Spring with all Spring applications. Deadlines are as follows:
       Fall: January 15, 2010                    Spring: April 30, 2010
       Applications must be received by 3:00 pm on due date. No applications
       received after the due date or time will be considered. The award will be
       announced by May 14, 2010.
   3. All applications received by the deadline will be reviewed and judged by AHS
      Business Education Teachers and Colorado Business Bank in Littleton personnel
      in order to choose one winning application. The scholarship award will be for
      one year.
   4. Student must have completed or be currently enrolled in the Personal Finance
      course at Arapahoe High School and earned or maintaining a course grade of “B”
      or higher.

                              REQUIREMENTS

This scholarship offered by Colorado Business Bank – Littleton is a one year
scholarship available to a senior graduating from Arapahoe High School and enrolling in
an institution of higher learning after graduation.

All of the following required materials must be submitted in person as one
complete packet to Jan Lewallen in the Guidance Dept. by 3:00 pm on the due
date (Jan. 15, 2010 – Fall and April 30, 2010 – Spring). No applicants will be
considered after these dates. All materials must be included, as listed. No
exceptions will be made. Application should consist of all required materials.
Materials should just be paper clipped together, not stapled together so they may
be easily taken apart for making copies.

   1. Application form must be complete. (Typed or computer generated is preferred)
   2. Complete official high school transcript for all courses taken. Must include latest
      grading period.
   3. Essay from applicant. In this essay the student should discuss their background,
      plans and goals for their future, and why they believe financial education is
      important to their future. Essay must by typed and limited to two pages (double
      spaced). Essay must include student name and birth date in a header on each
      page for identification purposes.
   4. Resume. This should be typed and submitted on a separate sheet of paper, not
      included within body of applicant’s essay. This should list all extracurricular
      activities and honors received.
   5. One letter of recommendation from individual that can discuss the personal
      character of the applicant. This recommendation cannot be from a teacher or
      counselor. It must be from an individual outside of school, but cannot be a parent
      or relative. The recommendation letter must be typed, limited to one page
      (single spaced) and include a signature and contact information for the reference.
