JOB DESCRIPTION

CLASSIFICATION: MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST
FUNCTIONAL TITLE: MAINTENANCE/CUSTODIAN

NATURE OF WORK:
Responsible for the maintenance of the facility, equipment, and grounds of the juvenile center. Work is performed
in a secure facility and requires conformance to security policy and procedures. May require some night or
weekend shifts. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Assistant Director - Support Services
Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES/WORK BEHAVIORS:
- Performs maintenance repairs to building and equipment within scope of abilities.
- Performs general cleaning and maintenance duties for facilities, grounds, and vehicles. - Conducts routine
  maintenance procedures per schedules for all equipment, heating/cooling systems.
- Maintains maintenance schedule records.
- Reports all needs for contract repairs immediately to the Assistant Director or Director.
- Insures all tools and equipment are accounted for at all times.
- Receives stock shipments, checking invoices and signing for deliveries. Places supplies in designated areas.

- Maintains inventory of repair stock and supplies.
- Follows safety procedures for use of equipment.
- Follows security procedures for facility.
- Submits purchase requests to the Assistant Director-Support Services
- Submits estimates and bids for services and goods to proposals to the Assistant Director-Support Services.

MINIMUM ENTRY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of institutional equipment and systems, including heating and air conditioning , and their routine
  maintenance.
- Knowledge of institutional cleaning procedures, practices, supplies, and equipment.
- Knowledge of occupational safety hazards.
- Ability to perform general repair jobs.
- Ability to use cleaning supplies and equipment economically and efficiently.
- Ability to read, understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in the maintenance and repair of institutional facilities, equipment and systems. Any combination of
education and experience to provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities cited above

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requires an acceptable background check, must not be listed with any state as having a founded child abuse or
neglect complaint, must refrain from use of illegal drugs both off and on the job. Must maintain a current
tuberculin test, a valid driver's license and all certifications and training identified as required by the Director.
