       NORTHERN IRELAND SCREEN SKILLS DEVELOPMENT
                      BURSARY FUND

GUIDELINES FOR APPLICANTS

Northern Ireland Screen is committed to developing the skills of those working in Northern
Ireland’s screen industries. The Northern Ireland Screen Skills Development Bursary Fund is
designed to assist NI talent with financial support to participate in training or development
courses. A key principle of the fund is that attendance at a training course should lead to
advancement of skills, expertise and general career development and this in turn should have
an impact on the film and television sectors. Consideration will be given to the
appropriateness of the proposed course in terms of developing the individual’s personal skills

WHO CAN APPLY

A Bursary can be awarded to an individual registered and working within Northern Ireland’s
independent film and television sector. In each individual case the applicant must be able to
demonstrate a strategic need to attend the event. Northern Ireland Screen welcomes
applications from anyone working in film and television production in Northern Ireland. Should
an applicant have legitimate special needs in the context of the Disability Discrimination Act
1995 relating to attendance at a given course, costs associated with these needs will be
regarded as eligible costs.

THE FOLLOWING ARE NOT ELIGIBLE

    Requests for retrospective funding.
 If Northern Ireland Screen receives multiple applications for attendance at a training
course or event it reserves the right to allocate a limited number of bursaries due to
        strong competition for funds.
 Attendance at Festivals, Markets or Conferences (applications for attendance are these
events should be routed through Northern Ireland Screen Markets, Festivals &
        Conferences Fund)
 Applications from anyone undertaking full time education at under or post-graduate level
(with the exception of the Northern Ireland Screen supported MA in Film and Television
        Management).
 Bursaries cannot be used in conjunction with any other Northern Ireland Screen
        subsidies.
 Northern Ireland Screen reserves the right to prioritise the development of skills to
address known skills shortages within the independent film & television sector in
        Northern Ireland
