                        Computer Specifications for the ‘Clasp32’

Cache and RAM (Random Access Memory)

The difference between the different CPUs (Central Processor Unit) is the speed, and the cache (The
memory built into the processor itself). An AMD* CPU normally will perform faster than an Intel** CPU at the
same speed. The Celeron*** CPU normally has less cache.

The ‘Clasp32’ (Software required by the ‘QXCI’ and the ‘SCIO’), will first look for the space it needs to perform
in the cache memory, this is extremely fast. If it does not find enough space it will go to memory built into the
memory on the motherboard, slower but still fast (This is the RAM). If it still does not find the space there it
has to go the hard drive (Slow) and execute the instructions. This however will only happen with the
‘Clasp32’ at very low RAM (e.g. 64 Mb). Thus the program may run but slowly – Not recommended at all.

The ‘Clasp32’ is a large application program running in real time. The Operating System ‘Windows’ does not
run in real time. The ‘Clasp32’ takes over the CPU to convert it in a ‘Frequencies Generator’ working in real
time and interface with the patient through the harnesses. Once the ‘Clasp32’ has generated the information,
it will require the Operating system to do its calculations and to operate its database. The ‘SCIO’ interfase
box includes its own processor, thus the CPU of the computer is free.

Hence this is why the computer needs a high resource capacity. In addition the ‘Clasp32’ Database (The
core of the program), uses the ‘Borland Database engine’. Due to the phenomenal amount of information
generated, the database engine has been stretched to its maximum capabilities. The specifications focus on
the RAM but ‘Cache’ must be taken into consideration.

Computer Specifications

 It is advisable to dedicate a laptop to the program. However, if this is not possible then it is highly
recommended that no other programs of medical nature be installed as conflicts have been reported
in the past. It is advisable to only install the recommended software and to follow the ‘Computer
        preparation’ instructions.
 For the ‘QXCI’ avoid, if possible, the makes Toshiba, IBM, Acer, and cloned types as many problems
have been reported due to their architecture and their timer chips. Nevertheless, the ‘Clasp32’ has
the facility to compensate for the different timer. For the ‘SCIO’ this makes no difference as it
        includes its own timer chip.
 Pentium 4 with a CPU speed over 1 GHz, not Celeron, because of the less ‘cache’ factor.
 Hard drive: Program itself requires about 2 Gb for installation. Always maintain at least 5 Gb free in
the hard drive so that regular maintenance can be carried out.
     RAM: 512 MB.
 Ports: The ‘QXCI’ is connected to the Parallel Port. The ‘SCIO’ is connected to the Serial Port or a
USB Port using an adapter. The Parallel Port is the slowest but uses several lines at the same time.
Serial Port is one data at a time and has speed limit. USB Ports: There are two types, USB 1 and
USB 2 (faster). Current models include these two ports.
 Monitor TFT/XGA****: Pixel size must be set at 1280x1024 or higher for optimum viewing of the
        ‘Clasp32’.
 Video and Sound cards are required.
 The Operating Systems needed is ‘Windows XP Professional’.

* Advanced Micro Devices: Global supplier of integrated circuits for the personal and networked computer
and communications markets headquartered in California, USA.
** Intel: American electronic corporation headquartered in California, USA. It is the World’s major producer of
a variety of electronics and computer components (including semi conductors, microprocessors, chipsets, and
more.
*** Celeron: New computer processor from the Intel Corp. Slower than the Pentium chip, it was designed for
the home computer market in the lower price range.
**** TFT/XGA: Thin Film Technology / Extended Graphics Array, which allows displaying up to 65000 colors
                     Necessary Programs for the ‘Clasp32’

   1. Indispensable:

           a. DivX Player. This is necessary to visualize some of the videos in the
‘Clasp32’ and in particular those included in the ‘Biofeedback’ section. This
program is available in the latest versions of ‘Clasp32 Master 2’, ‘The
Promorpheus’ or to download free from: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/qxci-
english (You need a ‘Yahoo! ID to access this page. You can obtain an ‘ID’
from: http://www.yahoo.com. As from version 8-8-2002 it is necessary to
remove the program ‘Angel Video Codec Potion’. Should this not be done,
conflicts will be generated and the videos will not be visualized.
           b. Word. This program is necessary to visualize the great amount of great
              information available in the ‘Clasp32’.

   2. Non indispensable:

           a. Microsoft Office Suite. Besides ‘Word’ (Text editor), it contains ‘Access’
(Databases), ‘Excel’ (Spread sheets), ‘PowerPoint’ (Presentations).
           b. Acrobat Reader. A free version can be downloaded from
              http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readermain.html. This program is
necessary to visualize files whit extension ‘PDF’ which is a very popular
format given its great compression capacity and its user friendly interface.
           c. Norton Utilities. This program is very useful to maintain the computer ‘tuned
up’. It is very good to check up that ‘Windows’ is properly installed. We have
noticed that the great compatibility of this program with the ‘Clasp32’.
           d. Norton Antivirus. This program is necessary to keep the computer virus
free. It is important to remember that this program or any other anti virus
program must be installed after the Clasp32. It is also important to remember
that it is always necessary to use and anti virus and a ‘utilities’ program from
the same manufacturer as conflicts may arise.
           e. Babylon. This program is the interface to visualize the dictionaries created
by this company and also by other authors. Both the program and the
dictionaries can be downloaded free from http://www.babylon.com. The
dictionary of translation of the items in the main matrix into Spanish can be
found in the ‘Alternative Medicine’ section under the heading ‘QXCI’. It is
good to subscribe to it if you wish to receive a notification of when the
              dictionary is updated.
