NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Hands On Nashville and Rebuilding Together Nashville
announced today its partnership, which is intended to help residents restore their homes
and fill the gap between federal assistance and the cost of rebuilding.

Hands On Nashville and Rebuilding Together Nashville will rebuild 50 homes for
homeowners who have qualified for aid through Mayor Karl Dean‟s “We Are Home”
assistance initiative and elect to partner with Hands On Nashville and Rebuilding
Together Nashville. These homeowners must also meet Rebuilding Together Nashville‟s
five partnership criteria. They include:
     o Homeowners must be low-income, earning 80 percent of the median income or
     o Homes must be single-family residences.
     o No back property taxes can be owed on these residences.
     o Homes must be permanent, free-standing structures.
     o Homes must be remediated and ready for rebuilding and to accept volunteers.

To complete work on the 50 homes indentified through “We Are Home,” Hands On
Nashville and Rebuilding Together Nashville will allocate $500,000 for the purchase of
building supplies. In addition, Hands On Nashville and Rebuilding Together Nashville
will restore homes of pre-selected Rebuilding Together Nashville‟s clients. Building
supplies donated to Hands On Nashville from Lowe‟s, Ford Motor Company, Glidden
Professional, Stain Master Carpet and Armor Concepts through NBC‟s TODAY Show
will also be used in this effort, along with Rebuilding Together Nashville‟s donations
from Sears, Kmart and LP Building Products. Hands On Nashville and Rebuilding
Together Nashville will provide skilled and unskilled construction volunteers and
underwrite up to $10,000 in building supplies for each of these flood-damaged

“Hands On Nashville is committed to the community‟s long-term recovery,” said
executive director Brian Williams. “Partnering with Rebuilding Together Nashville will
allow us to move from stabilization to restoration by repairing residents‟ flood-impacted
homes in a coordinated effort with the city.”
