Impressive Solar Consumer Products

Word Count:

An interesting article exploring so
me of the most exciting solar energ
y consumer products to hit the mark

Solar, Renewable Energy, Environment
al Education

Article Body:
Being in the business of solar ener
gy, we see a lot of new and excitin
g products long before they hit the
store shelves. We attend a lot of
 tradeshows and industry conference
s, and it never ceases to amaze me
how passionate people are about the
ir newly-developed applications. W
hile it is nowhere near the end of
the year, we felt we would share so
me of these amazing products with y
ou, our loyal readers.
One of the most interesting product
s we have seen this year comes out
of a university in UK. It is being
called the "Sun Trap", and it is g
arnering a lot of excitement in the
world press. It is not exactly a
revolutionary idea, but it certainl
y is an innovative use of existing
technology. It is a handbag design
ed using photovoltaic material as a
n exterior, while the interior of t
he purse is lined with electrolumin
escent material. When the bag is o
pened, the interior lights up! It
is powered by a small battery that
is continually charged by the sun t
hroughout the day. No more searchi
ng for your keys in the night!

Another fine product that we see as
 being incredibly practical is the
solar panel for notebook computers.
This an incredibly handy tool for
those people who spend a lot of ti
me outdoors. We have all had situa
tions when we are far from an outle
t and the laptop dies. Isn't that
the worst? Well, this product has
the potential to solve that problem
…so long as a light source is avail
able. I plan on taking mine on my
next camping trip!

There are also some awesome new pro
ducts designed for use in your yard
or garden. I am particularly keen
on some of the great garden lighti
ng systems that have recently been
released. These are basically smal
l lights that are used to illuminat
e garden paths and walkways. They
are charged throughout the day by t
he sun, and they stay lit well thro
ughout the night. There are also n
ew solar powered rodent repellers t
hat are an excellent alternative to
using chemicals or traps to keep r
odents out of your garden.

These are just a few of the excitin
g products that have seen the light
of day. Engineers and inventors a
round the world are working to deve
lop some wonderful new products. I
t is very refreshing to see that pe
ople are devoting time and effort i
nto developing sustainable energy a
pplications. It is only a matter o
f time before all energy products a
re designed with the interests of s
ustainability in mind.
