Article Body:
Pariah, written by muti-talented ar
tist and author Timothy Goodwin, is
a science fiction, fantasy novel t
hat incorporates some very clear id
eas to what is wrong with today_s w
orld. The characters are colorfully
portrayed and the battles were ver
y well written.
Eric, the main character, is a vict
im of an abusive father and endures
extreme poverty as a young adult.
He is eventually diagnosed with bi-
polar disorder and grows into what
could be called a normal life. He m
eets and marries a wonderful woman
and her son embraces Eric as his fa
ther. Eric loves his life despite t
he difficulties in finding a good j
ob and unfulfilled dreams to reloca
te his family to a place where his
wife would not suffer from allergie
s so badly.

Eric becomes involved in a motor ve
hicle accident and wakes up in a wi
ldly different place called the Ita
rri. He is later told that this is
a space ship and he is light years
- and possibly another dimension -
from the life he once knew. Everyon
e on board expects Eric to become s
omeone else when he regains his sen
ses. Seemingly on the brink of insa
nity, he experiences "fragmentation
" _ when memories of other lives co
llide - but eventually works his wa
y back to sanity only to discover t
hat he is actually a clone.
In a desperate attempt to do whatev
er it takes to return to a time and
a life he cherished so dearly, Eri
c undergoes intensive training. The
reader is taken on fantastic space
 travel and time travel adventures,
battles with foes, scenes with god
s, demi-gods and an old flame that
is incredibly vindictive are good s
pices for a great read.

At times I found myself confused, b
ut I know from experience that book
s I have reread many times are thos
e that challenge the mind and intri
gue the reader to return. The endin
g has an interesting twist, which I
think readers may suspect early on
, but the work is written so well t
hat it will leave them guessing.
