MSHA Impoundment ?
or Documenting Impoundments at MSHA Metal/Nonmetal Mines
All dams having “High Hazard Potential.” This means dams, regardless of their present
condition and size, which, if they failed would probably cause loss of human life.

All dams having “Significant Hazard Potential.” This means dams, regardless of their
present condition and size, which, if they failed would result in no probable loss of
human life, but could cause significant economic loss or environmental damage

All other dams (i.e. dams with “Low Hazard Potential” or undetermined hazard potential) which:
Equal or exceed 25 feet in height and which exceed 15 acre-feet in storage, or
Equal or exceed 50 acre-feet in storage capacity and exceed 6 feet in height.
