Ramadan Suitcase
I joined Ramadan suitcase because I wanted to help the poor people and get a fun community and service point. My sister had joined last year and she had told me that it was a really valuable experience yet at the same time fun. I was curious to see where and how they lived. I think it was really valuable due to the fact that I saw all the people happy, really happy to see us again and like every year get food. I never thought that there would be such poor people in Qatar, so I was really amazed when I saw all these families. At the beginning I was sad, due to the fact that there were so many poor people. However I then realised that I cant change this, but that I can help contribute by going there and giving them valuable food. I brought about 4 kilo's of candy there, so that I can give all the children there something they will enjoy Qatar academy has done many things for these families, however I believe we can achieve more. I think that we should make more suitcase trips, and not just durning ramadan. We could also help find them jobs or better housing, or just give them financial advice. I think that we should have another clothes run, as I saw many people with very little and bad clothing. At the end of this trip I was really happy, not just because I got a community and service point but also because I could rest assured that I had done by best to help the poor community of Qatar, however through the next few days I hadn't slept so well, due to the fact that all I had thought about was how to help these poor people some more. I also thought about how they must see it, we were just coming there and giving them food, however they wanted and needed some more. This is why after a few days I realized why they wanted more suitcases, and also why some children stole some of my candy. Also my cap went missing, however this was sacrificial due to the morale things I had gained. From this project I showed caring a lot. This is due to the fact that I wasted my time and money to help out the poor. Burhan and I carried lots of suitcases and carried them to the families, we really carried lots.
Quack Fest helper
This year I signed up for the Quack fest. Originally we were going to have a game booth, however ours was canceled due to the fact that somebody else had also signed up for it. We were told that It was canceled in the last second, and since we thought that this was unfair we complained. We were then told that two of us would be given the chance to be problem solvers, and the others gate keepers. Since it was only me and Bilal there we decided that it would only be fair if it was us that become problem solvers. Our job was to solve problems that we came across, or if we cant solve them we should call for help. I believe that for this project I showed caring a lot. I think this due to the fact that we helped out a lot of people, and we solved arguments that could have possibly escalated to a fight. Bilal and I also helped Mrs. Rodgers which shows that I cared for the quack fest. I think that next year I will make a game, however if we arent allowed to again I will go as a problem solver once again. The first problem that we had was with the xbox group. They had a stand with a xbox and they were playing football. This was originally our idea yet they got to make a group. This is why I was sort of happy that they had a problem. The were really unorganised. For about 10 minutes there was nobody supervising the stand, so Bilal and I stayed there to make sure that people get to play, and so that nobody steals anything. Also the qeue was really bad, the people were just cutting in line. We went to Mrs. Rodgers for this as the people wouldn't listen to us. Mrs. Rodgers went to check it out. Also Bilal and I went there really early, so we were sorting out the MUN flags, for about 1 hour. This was extra work, we didn't have to do this but we did it without hesitations. There was another major problem, two students had brought their dogs. These dogs were pooing in the football field. There were games going on and so this was a crisis. We then immediately went to call the cleaners to ask assistance in order to stop problems arising.
