YoungBlood for young musi cians
A new South-East London company called YoungBlood plans to give budding young musicians a chance
to play proper gigs.
Tich Turner, promot er of the Catapult Club at the Amersham Arms in New Cross and one of the people
behind the scheme, explains: “I‟m being approached by more and more young bands, and I can‟t put
them on because their fans are all too young to come in to the pub to see them. I decided that something

They are planning gigs around London and the South -East. Each venue will have a stage, professional
PA system, lighting, sound and video recording facilities, dressing room - in fact, everything you would
expect from a top gig.
Tich, himself a well-known musician, says: “It‟s not just about giving them the chance to play. There‟s so
much more to learn - about soundchecks, publicity, all the other stuff that goes with being a professional
musician. Between us we‟ve got donkey‟s years of ex perience - we‟d really like to to pass some of that on
to the next (or next-but-one!) generation.”
YoungBlood‟s first gig featured local bands Butterfly Stitch and 11 IQ. Headliners Butterfly Stitch formed
in 2001, and lead singer Cam is still only 16! Last year they appeared at the O2 Wireless Festival in Hyde
Park and in the Nokia tent at the Reading Festival. 11 IQ say their music is “catchy, melodic, fast, fun and

the area. Bio Mapping devices worn by participants record their body‟s level of arousal, indicating how
individuals respond to, and interact with, their immediate environment, while a GPS unit tracks the route
they choose. Participants can take photographs along the way. On returning to the studio, the information
is uploaded and critically interpreted by participants and the artist to create a multi -layered response to
the environment.
The Greenwich Emotion Map is the first commission in Independent Photography‟s „Penins ula
