Classes:
  1. Short Course – Assisted Minimus - approx height 1’ 6’’ (spoken assistance / lead rein) for
      riders under 12 (as of 1st January 2010) only.
  2. Short Course – Minimus - approx height 1’ 6’’
  3. Short Course – Novice - approx height 2’ 6’’
  4. Short Course – Open - approx height 3’ 3’
  5. Full Course - Minimus Pairs - approx height 1’6’’
  6. Full Course - Minimus - approx height 1’6’’
  7. Full Course - Novice Pairs - approx height 2’ 6’’
  8. Full Course - Novice - approx height 2’ 6’’
  9. Full Course - Open - approx height 3’ 3’
   Fancy Dress Fun Classes – see later in schedule
You do not need to be representing a riding club team to enter any of the above classes, entry is open
to everyone.
All riding club team members must submit an individual entry. It would be helpful if these accompany
the team entry.

Competition involves:
  Short cross country course of approximately 1200m - 1500m with around 12 obstacles.
  Full cross country course of approximately 2500m -3000m, with around 25 obstacles per class.
  Both courses include gate obstacle involving opening, going through and shutting a 4 foot gate.
  Class 1 - Assisted Minimus are allowed spoken and/or lead rein assistance, as the aim is to
    encourage younger riders to have a go at cross country.

Penalties for:
   Jumps refused/missed out
   Failure to open or shut the gate

Scoring for the Hunter Trial is as follows:

Jump faults
  First refusal, run-out or circle at obstacle     - 30 penalties
  Second refusal , run-out or circle at obstacle   - 30 (i.e. 2 refusals = 60 penalties)
  Third refusal , run-out or circle at obstacle    - 30 (i.e. 3 refusals = 90 penalties)
  Fall of rider                                    - 60 penalties
  Fall of rider and horse                          - 120 penalties
  Error of course / failure to attempt fence       - 90 penalties
  For pairs classes if there is a dressing fence   - 30 penalties if not jumped together
  For pairs classes all other jumps must be jumped within 50m of each other
                                                    - 30 penalties if the distance is more
Gate Obstacle faults
  Dismounting to open or shut gate                 - 30 penalties
  Failing to close the gate                        - 30 penalties
  Failure to go through the gate                   - 30 penalties
Timing
  Timing will depend on ground conditions at the time of competition, with all competitors being
     notified prior to the start of event.

     No one is eliminated but may be asked to move on if experiencing difficulties at a
                          particular obstacle, but can finish the course.
 If a horse and/or rider fall then the competitor is expected to make a reasoned decision
                              whether it is appropriate to continue.
   Overtaking is allowed but must be done carefully with consideration for other riders.
In the pairs classes’ riders must jump the fences within 50 m of each other and there may
                       be a dressing fence which must be jumped together.

DON’T FORGET - The aim of the Manx Chasers competitions is to have fun!
Entry Fees
  Individual Classes 1 - 4:                  £10 per horse/rider combination
  Individual Classes 6, 8 & 9:               £15 per horse/rider combination
  Pairs Classes 5 & 7:                       £25 per pair
  2010 Course season ticket holders:         £2 reduction per entry

General Information
  Riders may enter more than one class on the same/different combinations.
  Riders may enter more than once on same day on the same/different combinations.
  Riders may enter as single or as pair.
  Pairs classes’ any combinations (horse/pony/adult/junior).
  The course will be available to be walked from noon until 4pm on Friday 29th October and/or 8am
    onwards on Saturday 30th October.
  Approximate start times will be available online and displayed at the course walk.
  No competitors will be allowed to take part in the Hunter Trial in Fancy Dress.
  Please bring cross country number bibs to display start number. Start numbers will be emailed
    with start times. In order to aid check in, it would be helpful if competitors print two copies of
    number for their number bib.
  There will be rosettes at least to third place for each class.
  General course will be open for practise every weekend as usual, and during half term week,
    subject to weather and ground conditions. Please phone 463032 or 422486 to book in advance.
    Check our website, for possible cross country clinics during Half Term Week.
  To run an event over the length of our course requires a lot of jump judges and other stewards, if
    you are able to provide an adult who is able to assist in this way it would be greatly appreciated
    and will ensure the event is able to take place. Please indicate their name and mobile contact on
    the entry form. Thank you.

   When entering you acknowledge that:-
      All riders are expected to have adequate third party insurance in place, and
      You must wear appropriate protective equipment including body protector (BETA level 1, 2 or 3)
       and protective hat (BSEN1384 or similar) and
      You agree to abide by the competition rules.
                      HALLOWEEN FANCY DRESS FUN CLASSES

                          Fun Classes will take place after the Hunter Trial.
                   Riders do not need to wear full riding attire for Classes 10 -15.
             No competitors will be allowed to take part in the Hunter Trial in Fancy Dress!

Fun Classes: ENTRIES ONLY TAKEN ON THE DAY
 10. Best Fancy Dress – Horse/Rider Combination (Under 10, as of 1st January 2010)
 11. Best Fancy Dress – Horse/Rider Combination (10 – 12, as of 1st January 2010)
 12. Best Fancy Dress – Horse/Rider Combination (12 – 14, as of 1st January 2010)
 13. Best Fancy Dress – Horse/Rider Combination (14 – 16, as of 1st January 2010)
 14. Best Fancy Dress – Horse/Rider Combination (16 – 18, as of 1st January 2010)
 15. Best Fancy Dress – Horse/Rider Combination (18 & Over)

Entry Fees:
 Fun Classes 10 – 15: Minimum £1 donation per combination per class, payable in cash on the day.
 Proceeds from classes 10 - 15 will go to Isle of Man Children’s Centre Mobex Project.

Entry Fees
  £10 per team entry
  Cheques made payable to PJ & HA Fletcher. (This fee will go to MRCA.)
  Sent with Entry Form to Manx Chasers.

Team Competition Rules:
  Each team is required to provide 2 named stewards on the team entry form.
  4 team members already individually entered for the Manx Chasers Halloween Hunter Trial in the
    appropriate class.
  At least one combination of horse and rider per course height;
    Class 6 (Minimus approx height 1’6’’), Class 8 (Novice approx height 2’6”), Class 9 (Open approx
    height 3’3”) and 4th team member any of these 3 classes.
  In exceptional circumstances (e.g. for veterinary reasons) one substitution of one combination may
    be made per team.
  Only one team per riding club; a club official must sign and submit the team entry form to confirm
    that all team competitors are fully paid up club members.
  No competitors will be allowed to take part in the Hunter Trial in Fancy Dress.

Team Members:
  At least one team member must be under 16 (as of 1st January 2010).
  At least one team member 16 or over (as of 1st January 2010).
  Two other members any age group.

Team Competition Scoring:
  All members to count.
  Score for the team competition is based on placing in the full course individual classes (e.g. 1 st = 1
    point, 2nd place = 2 points etc.) of riders competing in the team event.
  The team with the lowest score wins. In the event of equality of points; the penalty scores for
    each rider will be used to determine placing.
