USF St. Petersburg offers distinctive graduate and undergraduate programs in the arts and sciences,
business, and education within a close knit, student-centered learning community that welcomes
individuals from the region, state, nation, and world. We conduct wide-ranging, collaborative research
to meet society’s needs and engage in service projects and partnerships to enhance the university
and community’s social, economic and intellectual life. As an integral and complementary part of a
multi-campus university, USF St. Petersburg retains a separate identity and mission while
contributing to and benefiting from the associations, cooperation, and shared resources of a premier
national research university.


College/University Goal(s) Supported: The College of Education at USF St. Petersburg offers
graduate degree programs recognized for accomplishing defined learning outcomes, supported by a
foundation of applied research, and committed to meeting the needs of the community and the
students it serves.

Intended Educational (Student) Outcomes:
Identify at least three student learning outcomes and prepare a FORM C. Student learning outcomes
are defined in terms of what students will know, or be able to do, or believe as a result of
instruction.

1. Elementary Education Master’s students will demonstrate current knowledge of subject matter as
defined by the State of Florida’s Elementary Education subject matter competencies. (Florida

2. Elementary Education Master’s students will create an environment that fosters positive interaction
using communication skills to positively impact K-6 student learning. (Florida Educator Accomplished

improve the learning of all students. (Florida Educator Accomplished Practice: Assessment)

Reporting Instructions:
At the end of the assessment period, the assessment report is prepared.
The report contains a summary of assessment findings identified. In addition, the report describes
what changes (if any) were made as a result of a review of assessment findings. The discussion on
use of results should, at the very least, indicate that faculty members reviewed the assessment
findings.
Student Learning Outcome #1
What will students know or be able to do or believe? Be specific.
Elementary Education Master’s students will demonstrate current knowledge of subject
matter as defined by the State of Florida’s Elementary Education subject matter
competencies. (Florida Educator Accomplished Practices: Knowledge of Subject Matter)
   ASSESSMENT PLAN -
    Means of Assessment #1: Describe the procedures, strategies, or means that will be used to collect
    information on student learning.

        Criteria for Success: 90% of Elementary Education Master’s students will pass the State of
        Florida Elementary Education K-6 Subject Area Examination on the first attempt. 100% of the
        students will pass this examination before graduation from the program.


    Means of Assessment #2: Describe the procedures, strategies, or means that will be used to collect
    information on student learning.

        Criteria for Success: 90% of Elementary Education Master’s students will be rated at or
        above the level expected of a beginning teacher (4 or 5 on a five point scale) on Florida
        Accomplished Practice #8, Subject Matter, during their Final Internship. All students in the
        program will score at least 3 on a five-point scale in order to graduate.
