Vita Steven Michael Starbuck was born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1973. He attended grade school there for two years before moving to Irmo, South Carolina in 1980. He attended the public school system in Irmo and graduated from Irmo High School in 1991. Next he went to the University of Illinois (Urbana) where he gained his BS in Civil Engineering in 1995. He then went to Virginia Tech where he earned his Master’s in Environmental Engineering in 1998. He hopes to find a job where he can work to make the world a better place to live in. He would also like to learn reasonable Spanish so that he can travel to Latin and South American countries, hike the whole Appalachian Trail, and finish read all of the books written by Carl Sagan. He hopes that whoever reads this will take the time to consider the beauty of the world around us that science can help reveal. As Sagan liked to remind us, science requires a sense of wonder in addition to a skeptical mind.
