                   the expertise available here (Paediatric surgery, Adult Gastro-enterology and
                   other Paediatric subspecialties) and also establish links with experts in Cape

REQUIREMENTS             :     A recognised Bachelor’s Degree / National Diploma in Communication; plus *A
                               minimum of 3 years’ appropriate management experience within a
                               communication environment; plus *Possession of a valid driver’s licence
                               (minimum Code B). Knowledge, Skills, Training and Competencies Required:
                               *Broad and in-depth knowledge of legislation and policy dealing with
                               Communication within the Public Service. *Understanding of policy research,
                               analysis and development processes. *Knowledge of Public Service reporting
                               procedures and work environment. *Knowledge of Information Technology

DUTIES                   :     Manage the provision of Media Liaison and Public Relations services. *Manage
                               Communication and Administrative Support Services. *Formulate and ensure
                               implementation of policies and projects to enable the Department to successfully
                               fulfil its role in delivering effective, efficient services. *Provide leadership and
                               strategic direction to both the Directorates to ensure the image of the Department
                               and the Office of the MEC is positively projected. *Manage and control the
                               resources of the Chief Directorate.
