Re: AVID Classroom of the Future Foundation and San Diego Indian American Society Scholarships

This year the Classroom of the Future Foundation (CFF) is proud to once again provide the High Tech
Academic Achievement Scholarship awards. Scholarships range from $1,000 to $2,500 and are awarded
to approximately 12-15 current AVID Seniors in San Diego county that demonstrate achievement in
academics, specifically in the fields of math, science, engineering, and/or technology. Please distribute
the attached application to up to five students whom you believe are good candidates for this
scholarship award. In order to qualify for this award, each nominee must plan to attend a four-year
college/university beginning fall 2010 and he/she must be considering a math, science, engineering, or
technology-related field of study/major.

This application will also be used to select three-four finalists for the San Diego Indian American Society
(SDIAS) Mahatma Gandhi Scholarship. The San Diego Indian American Society would also like to award
students demonstrating high academic achievement in the sciences, as well as community service and
leadership. Each finalist will receive a $1,000 scholarship upon verified enrollment in a four-year
college/university beginning fall 2010. This scholarship award is potentially renewable for up to four
years.

AVID Senior Standouts wishing to be considered for these scholarship awards should complete the
addendum located on page 14 of the AVID Senior Standout scholarship application. The completed
addendum must be submitted along with the Senior Standout application by the February 4th deadline.
Senior Standouts DO NOT need to submit a separate Classroom of the Future Foundation/San Diego
Indian American Society scholarship application.

CFF and SDIAS award recipients will be recognized at our AVID Senior Recognition Ceremony on May
19, 2010, as well as at the award ceremonies hosted by the individual scholarship sponsors (dates to be
announced shortly).

Completed application packets are due in to the San Diego County AVID Office by Monday, March
8, 2010. Late and/or incomplete applications will not be considered for a scholarship award.

Please contact my assistant Melanie Torres at (858) 292-3831 or metorres@sdcoe.net if you have any
questions or concerns pertaining to this scholarship application.
