   Overcoming Plateaus In The Gym
How do you overcome plateaus. There are many forms of exercises that you can do to
help you with this. For starters squats. Squats are often called the king of exercise and
the reason is squats work the largest muscle in the body, which are the thighs. They
not only stimulate muscle size and growth but they also provide metabolic stimulation
that encourages upper body growth.

There are many ways in which to do squats. Below are examples of how to do squats
properly:

Here is another form of squats you can do called “Squat Jumps”. To do these, stand
with your feet shoulder width apart and toes pointed slightly outward, with a bar
resting across your shoulders and traps. Descend into a squat until your thighs are
parallel to the floor. Explode upward; as your hips and knees approach full extension,
jump off the balls of your feet. Upon landing, move immediately into another squat.
Look straight ahead and keep your torso and neck muscles tight throughout. (See

Another form of exercise you can do to help you overcome plateaus in the gym is to do
lunges. The lunge is a weight training exercise that is use to strengthen and build the
quadriceps (thighs), glutes (butt) and muscles comprising the "hamstrings. The lunge
can be performed in several ways, using a barbell, using dummbells, using cables and
even using a Smith Machine.

To perform a basic lunge, stand with your feet together and your hands by your sides.
Take a large step forward with your left leg. Bend your legs and lower your right knee
until it almost touches the floor and your left leg is bent to 90 degrees. Keep your body
upright and look forward. Push down and forward with your left leg to push yourself
back up into the starting position. Repeat the exercise leading with your right leg and
continue alternating legs for the duration of your set. (See below):

With persistence and consistence, and more importantly patience, if you are serious
about getting into the best shape in your life, you can overcome those nagging
plateaus just by implementing some of the exercises mentioned previously. Who
