Lisa DiPoala Haber is a partner in the Firm’s Litigation Department.
Lisa’s litigation practice includes general commercial and complex
litigation as well as personal injury litigation. Her experience includes
trial and appellate work in both state and federal court.
General Commercial and Complex Litigation. Lisa handles contract
disputes including construction-related, purchase contract and
commercial lease litigation as well as other general commercial claims
for all types of business. She also litigates employment cases, including
contract based claims, claims of discrimination and sexual harassment,
constitutional claims, retaliatory discharge claims and disputes
involving restrictive covenants. She has litigated in administrative
proceedings as well as arbitration hearings. In her practice, Lisa has litigated a significant
amount of cases arising under 42 U.S.C. § 1983. Lisa has also litigated other complex matters in
federal court involving, among other tings, the commerce clause, amendments rights and Indian
Real Estate/Land Use Litigation. Lisa currently handles a significant amount of real estate and
land use litigation, including issues arising out of right to build, the New York State
Environmental Quality Review Act and condemnation.
Personal Injury Litigation. Lisa has handled a substantial amount of personal injury litigation
including general negligence, medical malpractice and products liability claims, representing
both plaintiffs and defendants.
Lisa has served as a confidential law clerk to the justices of New York State Supreme Court,
Appellate Division, Fourth Department, as well as former New York State Supreme Court
Justice Parker J. Stone. She formerly served as an Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of
Syracuse. Lisa is admitted to practice law in the State of New York as well as the Northern and
Western Districts of the United States District Courts and the Second and Seventh Circuits of the
United States Court of Appeals. She is a member of the American Bar Association and the
Executive Committee of the ABA Women Rainmakers. She is on the Board of Directors for the
Onondaga County Bar Association and serves on the Grievance Committee. Lisa is also a
member of the Northern District of New York Federal Court Bar Association, the Central New
York Women’s Bar Association, and serves on the Board of Directors for the Syracuse Law
Alumni Association. Lisa is a magna cum laude graduate of both the Syracuse University
College of Law and S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. She has lectured on
various topics and regularly participates in charitable, civic and political activities.
