Keeping Lent in Unity with Orphaned and Abandoned Children . . .
. . . through Prayer, Fasting and Giving.
Unity with Friends of the Orphans
Friends of the Orphans is dedicated to improving the lives of orphaned, abandoned and disadvantaged children through the
support of the Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (Spanish for “Our Little Brothers and Sisters”) network of homes in Latin America
and the Caribbean.
Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (NPH) currently cares for over 3,600 children in Bolivia, the Dominican Republic,El Salvador,
Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua and Peru. Since its founding in 1954 by Father William B. Wasson, NPH has
provided loving and stable homes to nearly 16,000 children. In 2009, NPH outreach programs, including the only free pediatric
hospital in Haiti, assisted more than 83,000 children and adults.
At NPH homes, the children— called pequeños—are not available for adoption. Instead they are welcomed with their brothers
and sisters and become a part of the larger NPH family. Many have suffered physical and/or verbal abuse, lived in horrible
conditions, been separated and shuffled from one family member to another. Like all children, they are seeking love and
security, a place they can call home.
Please join us in welcoming
