Subject: HELP DECREASE THE REGULATORY BURDEN ON BUSINESS
Dear John Morrall:
Mr J. Morrall
Re: US Dept of Commerce - US Census Bureau
Annual Captial Expenditures Survey
Subject: Reducing Business Reporting Requirements
Your name was provided t o me by the US Chamber of Commerce as the
person t o whom t o direct my concern with wasteful US Govt.
documentation needs, hence the following letter.
A cover letter, nine pages of instructions & six pages of form
was received from the US Dept of Commerce to
enable us t o advise the Census Bureau component thereof of my
business's annual captial expenditures t o "help measure GDP." The
information requested duplicates information already submitted to the
US Govt. on my business' annual tax return.
If the Census Bureau needs this w o r k t o k e e p busy, have them extract
the info from tax returns rather than burdening businesses to report
what has already been reported.
And, "Title 13 ... requires you answer this survey so if the
"representative firms" selected to participate are too busy in running
a business t o reply, I must assume Title 13 provides for some
sanctions to be levied.
Let's stop this time wasting, non-productive, duplicative and costly
(private public) nonsense.
