TASK: You now need a banking institution where you will have a checking
account. Listed below are banks located in the Northern Virginia and
Washington area. Use the Internet to research the different types of
checking accounts that are available at your assigned bank.
Use an EXCEL worksheet (that will be handed in) to document and
compare the different types of checking accounts available to you at your
assigned bank. In the worksheet, answer the following questions for at
least two different types of checking account available at your assigned
Is there a minimum balance required?
How many checks per month may be written?
Is there interest paid to the account?
Do you get a monthly statement?
Is there an ATM/Debit card associated with the account?
Is there a credit card associated with the account?
What fees are associated with the account?
Any other information that you found.
Over the weekend, you may use additional time to either phone or visit an
office of your bank to obtain more information.
Be prepared on Monday (September 28) to discuss the merits of your
bank’s checking options and your selection of the “BEST” checking
choice. Your information along with the other student’s information will
be used to select a bank for our class to use during the rest of the course.
