Students with Off-Campus Reservations
If you have made arrangements to live in an off-campus apartment it is likely that you will need to make temporary
housing accommodations (i.e. hotel, campus temporary housing, etc.) for your first night(s) in St. Louis. Local
apartments are usually managed by leasing offices or landlords that only operate during standard business hours
(Mondays through Fridays 9:00am-5:00pm). Weekend hours can vary depending on the property. Students who are
planning to live off campus should discuss arrival and check-in arrangements with a leasing representative from the
property where they will be living before travelling to St. Louis. Beware of signing lease agreements for off-campus
properties that you have not yet seen. Lease agreements can be very difficult to get out of once they have been
signed. Breaking a lease agreement usually involves paying a significant fee, sometimes up to half of the total lease
amount (lease amount = total rent for the term of the lease). If possible, wait to sign the lease agreement until you
have arrived in St. Louis and have viewed the property where you will live.
