BERKELEY, Calif.--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--Spring courses are open for enrollment at UC Berkeley
Extension. The continuing education branch of the University of California, Berkeley, UC Berkeley Extension offers
professional development and personal enrichment in the classroom and online for adults in the San Francisco Bay
Area and beyond. In addition to hundreds of courses, four new specialized programs of study are now accepting
students.

The new Professional Sequence in Cultural Landscape Preservation and Management provides a comprehensive
education in the various regulatory processes and practice standards involved in preserving cultural landscapes —
areas associated with important events, activities, or people.

In the technology arena, the Professional Program in Formal Software Development offers rigorous instruction in the
practical and theoretical underpinnings of formal software development. The new Professional Program in
Quantitative Analysis provides the skills to effectively combine applications in mathematics, statistics, and numerical
computing methods to design, develop, and deploy valuable data solutions.

For manufacturing managers and engineers, the Professional Program in Manufacturing Management and Innovation
teaches the technical and managerial content of Lean manufacturing, the principle of eliminating waste while
improving efficiency.

These programs join more than 80 professional certificates and specialized programs of study in areas ranging from
accounting, health professions, and project management to visual arts, editing, and sustainability studies. Professional
certificates signify the highest level of academic achievement from UC Berkeley Extension. Academic advisory
boards comprising industry experts, UC Berkeley professors, and Extension academic staff oversee and approve all
certificate curricula. Specialized programs of study provide focused subject concentrations that enable students to
develop skills within a specific discipline.

Online offerings for spring 2011 include courses in green chemistry, clinical research, and counseling and
psychotherapy, among many other areas. New for spring, the Certificate Program in Finance offers the Corporate
Finance specialization completely online. Visit extension.berkeley.edu/online for details about online courses and
certificates.

UC Berkeley Extension's spring 2011 catalog is online at extension.berkeley.edu/cat. Courses are held in convenient
Bay Area locations — including Berkeley, San Francisco, and Belmont — and online.
