    Conservation and preservation of library material in a cultural-heritage
                              oriented context
                               Dates: 31 August-2 September 2009
    Location: Istituto centrale per il restauro e la conservazione del patrimonio archivistico e
                          librario, Via Milano,76 -- 00184, Rome, Italy

The IFLA Preservation and Conservation Section (http://www.ifla.org/en/preservation-and-
conservation) and the IFLA – PAC Core activity (http://www.ifla.org/en/pac) in collaboration
with the Istituto Centrale per il restauro e la conservazione del patrimonio archivistico e
librario (http://www.icpal.beniculturali.it) are organizing a three-day post-conference satellite
meeting in Roma, Italy, 31August-2 September.
There will be 2 days of presentations that highlight particular aspects and issues related to
Preservation. The first day will feature preservation and conservation activities in several
major and famous places in Rome:
The Vatican Library (http://www.vaticanlibrary.va), The Istituto Centrale per il Restauro e
la Conservazione del Patrimonio Archivistico e Librario (http://www.icpal.beniculturali.it/)
and the Library of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei e Corsiniana (http://www.lincei.it/).
The second day will include two sessions, focusing respectively on topics associated with
robotic mass digitisation of cultural heritage library materials and exhibition advances for
cultural heritage library materials

preservation problems and solutions, robotic scanning and the exhibiting of cultural heritage

The registration fee for the conference is 50 Euros.
Please, note that the fee has to be paid in cash only at your arrival on Monday 31 of August.

Please indicate in the registration form if you wish to be present at the Dinner in Trastevere, at
your own cost, in a Trattoria proposed by the organizers (Monday 31 evening).
Included in the registration fee are:
       The full two-day and half conference

       The visits in Insula Sapientiae libraries.
All participants are expected to cover their own travel and accommodation expenditures.
