Introduction to the CAR Livestock Calculation Tool (CLCT):
The Climate Action Reserve (Reserve) has developed this calculation tool to in order to assist with the quantification of emission reductions in accordance with
the Reserve's Livestock Project Protocol (LPP). The tool is designed to be as "user-friendly" as possible, although upon first glance, this tool may seem very
complicated. It is important to note that the only worksheets that require user input are worksheets III, IIIa, and IV. The rest of the worksheets are for
automatic calculations, tables and references, and equation summaries. All worksheets other than III, IIIa, and IV require NO user input or manipulation. With this
in mind, the overall layout is described below:

Worksheet II. - Calculation Summary - This page is where you will find a summary of the final emission reduction calculation results that will be reported to the Reserve.

Worksheet III. - Data inputs for the Baseline scenario - This page is for inputting all baseline data (drawn from on-site data and from lookup tables) necessary for the baseline
emissions calculation.
Worksheet IIIa. - Data Inputs for the Project scenario - This page is for inputting all project data (drawn from on-site data and lookup tables) necessary for the project
emissions calculation.

Worksheet IV. - Baseline methane emissions from the anaerobic storage/treatment system(s) - This page is mostly automated, however the user is responsible for manually
entering data from the previous year's calculation .

Worksheet V. - Baseline methane emissions from non-anaerobic storage/treatment systems - No user input/adjustments required.
Worksheet VI. - Total Baseline emissions - A summary of total bseline methane emissions by livestock category and storage/treatment system. No user input/adjustment
required.
Worksheet VII. - Project methane Emissions from the Biogas Collection System - Automated, no user input/adjustment required.
Worksheet VIII - Project methane emissions from the Effluent Pond - Automated, no user input/adjustment required.

Description of Inputs
Below you will find a description of the required monthly inputs (all other inputs are on an annual basis):


On a month-by-month basis, project developers need to input into this calculation tool the following variables:
   1) Average monthly site temperature -- Worksheet III, Section III.B. (Note: User is required to input the average monthly temperature of the last four months of the
previous year.)

  2) Update Livestock populations -- Worksheet III, Section III.D

  5) Update the metered quantity of methane captured and combusted by the Biogas Collection System -- Worksheet IIIa, section A.




Other variables/parameters are inserted into this calculation tool just once a year, and some only once at the start of the project.


This Workbook automatically calculates methane emissions using the monthly data uploaded by project developers and values taken from the protocol.



For convenience of use, cells within the worksheets are defined such that:
  - fields that are required to be populated by the user using site-specific data are highlighted in Yellow.
   -fields that are required to be populated by information drawn from tables on sheet XII are highlighted in Orange.
   -fields that are automatically calculated but must be recorded and used as input to the next years calculation are highlighted in Peach.
  - fields that are automatically completed using data drawn from information previously provided by the user are highlighted in Green.
  - constant values are provided in the White fields.
  - fields that are automatically calculated based on the site-specific and default values are highlighted in Blue.
   -fields showing the final calculation results are highlighted in Rose



DISCLAIMER: This model is intended to aid in the calculation of emission reductions using the gudelines and calculation methodologies prescribed in
the Climate Action Reserve's Livestock Project Protocol V2.2. All emission reduction calculations must be double-checked and verified by a 3rd
party verifier, and all material errors and/or misstatements must be corrected before the emission reductions are registered with the Climate Action
Reserve.
Below you will find detailed summary and instructions for each Worksheet - much of this information is repeated as instructions embedded
within each worksheet. Keep in mind that the only worksheets that require user input/adjustments are worksheets III, IIIa, and IV.
Worksheet II: Summary
This sheet provides a summary of the emissions calculated in this spreadsheet. Summary includes the comparison of the modeled methane emission reductions vs. the total
metered methane that is destroyed by the project [Protocol eq. 4] There is no need to enter data here, the summary information is automatically drawn from other
worksheets.

Worksheet III: Data Inputs for Baseline Emissions
This sheet helps project developers organize their site specific data for the baseline calculation. The data entered here is sent to the calculation worksheets which
automatically (in most cases) calculate methane emissions and emission reductions.


III.A. General information:
Enter the site-specific information in the designated fields. It is very important to answer the questions in cells C23 and C24 .


III.B. Average monthly temperatures:


Enter the average ambient temperatures for each month below. Put a 1 in column D for each month that you are reporting emission reductions, and put a 0 for each month
you are not reporting. Even if not reporting for all months, all temperature data must be filled in for all months leading up to the final month that is being reported.


III.C. Livestock categories:
List the site-specific livestock categories and the corresponding average mass. These values should be obtained from the operating records on a monthly basis. The purpose
of differentiating livestock categories is to account for variability in methane generation across each category. The mass values should be the site specific average for each
livestock category. In the event that site specific data is not available, Typical Animal Mass (TAM) values from table XII.B

III.D. Livestock population:
Enter the monthly population for each livestock category. If it is the first year of digester operation, fill in only the population data beginning with the month that the digester
became operational. If reporting reductions for a sub-annual period and it is not the first year of operation, fill in population data for all previous months up until the end of
the last month being reported, leave the remaing months blank.


III.E. Daily Volatile Solids by Livestock Category


    - The volatile solids (VS) value represents the annual organic material in the manure for each livestock category and consists of both biodegradable and non-biodegradable
fraction. The VS content of manure is a combination of excreted fecal material and urinary excretions expressed in a dry matter weight basis (kg/animal/day). All livestock
category(s) will be automatically drawn from III.C and listed in the column "Livestock Categories". Please complete the corresponding volatile solid excretion (VS) for each
livestock category using the default values provided in Worksheet XII, Tables XII.B and XII.C. The units from Tables XII.B and XII.C will be in (Kg/day/1000kg animal), and
are converted into (Kg/animal/day) using the average mass values input in section III.C. The VS in (Kg/animal/day) are listed in column D



III.F. Maximum methane potential by livestock category
 - The "Bo" value (maximum methane production) is differentiated by livestock category. It's purpose is to account for effect of a livestock category's diet on methane
production.
Enter the maximum methane potential (B o ) values for each of the listed livestock categories. The livestock category list is automatically generated from the information
provided by the user on Worksheet III, Section III.C. The default B o factors are provided in Worksheet XII, Table XII.B. This value will be automatically transferred to
Worksheet IV and V to calculate baseline methane production.

III.G. Manure storage and treatment system information for the baseline calculation:
Enter the operation's pre-project waste storage and treatment system components. Select entries from the "Manure management system components" table provided on
Worksheet III. Refer to Worksheet XII, Table XII.A. for the system component definitions. Fields that are not applicable should be left blank. The list of storage/treatment
components should be comprehensive (even if they are not methane generating system components) and not exclude even small system components that receive only a small
fraction of the waste.

III.H. How frequently do you removes solids from the anaerobic system(s) pre-project?
Enter the number of times per year and identify the months that solids are removed from the baseline anaerobic system pre-project. This information is used in Worksheet IV
to calculate the baseline methane emissions from anaerobic storage/treatment systems. The removal of solids from the anaerobic system, zeros-out the waste remaining from
the previous month. If the anaerobic storage system had a retention time less than 30 days, please indicate this.

III.I. Methane conversion factor (MCF) for "other storage/treatment systems"

Enter the MCF value for the non-lagoon and storage pond system components in the orange fields. Refer to the Worksheet XII, Table D. Storage components categories that
are not applicable should be left blank. This value is automatically transferred to Worksheet VI and IX to calculate methane production for non-anaerobic storage/treatment
systems.


III.J. Fraction of Manure from Livestock Category L that is stored/treated in component S (MSL,s) for the baseline calculation. Where does the manure go pre-project?
Enter the percentage (in decimal format) of pre-project waste handled by each system component beneath each livestock category heading. Within each livestock category,
the sum of MS values (for all treatment storage systems) equals 100%. The list of treatment/storage systems and livestock category headings are automatically generated
from the information provided by the user on Worksheet III, Sections III.C and III.H. Fields that are not required should be left blank. The purpose of entering the MS value is
to reflect the reality that waste from the operation's livestock categories are not managed uniformly. It indicates where the waste would be managed in the baseline scenario,
if the digester was never installed.



III.K. Baseline Carbon Dioxide Emissions Inputs [Protocol - Equation 5]
III.K.i. Baseline carbon dioxide emissions inputs for mobile fossil fuel combustion: CO2(MSC)
First enter the pre-project, mobile (fossil fuel combustion) source, fuel type and annual fuel quantity (QF) in the provided yellow fields. Second, enter the fuel-specific emission
factors (EFC02) in the orange fields for all on-site mobile combustion sources using the default EFC02 values provided in Worksheet XII, Table XII.E for "transport fuels". The
carbon dioxide emissions are automatically calculated for each mobile source using the values entered by the user. The emissions are then summed for all mobile sources
providing the total carbon dioxide emissions for mobile fossil fuel sources expressed in metric tons (MT).


III.K.ii. Baseline carbon dioxide emissions inputs for stationary fossil fuel combustion: CO2(MSC)


First enter the pre-project, stationary (fossil fuel combustion) source, fuel type, and annual fuel quantity (QFc) in the provided yellow fields. Second, enter the and fuel-specific
emission factors (EF C02,f ) in the orange fields for all on-site stationary combustion sources using the default EF C02 values provided in Worksheet XII,Table XII,F for "stationary
combustion". The carbon dioxide emissions for stationary fossil fuel is automatically calculated for each stationary source using the values provided by the user. The
emissions are then summed providing the total carbon dioxide emissions for stationary fossil fuel sources expressed in metric tons (MT).



Worksheet IIIa: Data Inputs for Project Emissions


IIIa. A Biogas Control System Inputs [Protocol Eq. 3a]

Important: Follow Steps 1 - 3 carefully in order to ensure metered biogas data is input properly



IIIa.B. Input for Project methane emissions from the BCS effluent pond [Protocol - Equation 3b]
The Vsep value is automatically calculated in cell D108 based on the total VS produced for each Livestock category (kg/animal/day), the population size, and the fraction of the
manure from each livestock category that is managed in the digester (entered by the user in column E). This total VS input is then multiplied by 30% to get an estimate of
the VS contained in the digester effluent.Enter the (B o,ep ) in the yellow field, and the methane conversion factor for the biogas control system effluent pond (MCFep) value in
the orange field. Default MCF values are located in Worksheet XII, Table III.D. Project developers should use the "liquid slurry" MCF value if the effluent treatment isystem is
a pond. If an alternative storage/treatment system is used for the digester effluent (ie compost/field applicatoiin etc) use the corresponding MCF value from Table III.D of
Worksheet XII.



IIIa.C. Manure storage and treatment system components for the project calculation. What systems are in place post-project? [Protocol - Equation 3c]
Enter the operation's post-project waste storage and treatment system components. Select entries from the "Manure management system components" table provided on
Worksheet III. Refer to Worksheet XII, Table XII.A. for the system component definitions. Fields that are not applicable should be left blank. The list of storage/treatment

IIIa.D. Fraction of Manure from Livestock Category L that is stored/treated in system S (MSL,s) -- for the project calculation, other than BCS + effluent pond. Where does the
manure go post-project?
Enter the fraction (decimal format) of manure from each livestock category that is stored or treated in each system component after the installation of the biogas control
system in the provided fields, if applicable. Storage components and livestock categories that are not applicable should be left blank.


IIIa.E. Does the fraction of manure handled by the storage/treatment system(s) change monthly or seasonally? If yes, adjust tables 3.o. accordingly.

Enter "yes" or "no". If the fraction of manure handled by the project storage/treatments does change monthly or seasonally, this change should be reflected in the MS values
for the project calculation.

specific emission factors (EF C02,f ) in the orange fields for all on-site stationary combustion sources using the default EF C02 values provided in Worksheet XII,Table XII,F for
"stationary combustion". The carbon dioxide emissions for stationary fossil fuel is automatically calculated for each stationary source using the values provided by the user.
The emissions are then summed providing the total carbon dioxide emissions for stationary fossil fuel sources expressed in metric tons (MT).



Worksheet IV: Baseline methane emissions from anaerobic storage/treatment systems

Methane emissions from anaerobic manure storage/treatment systems are based on site-specific information including, the mass of volatile solids degraded by the anaerobic
storage/treatment system and available for methane conversion. The calculation used incorporates the effects of temperature through the van‟t Hoff-Arrhenius („f‟ factor) and
accounts for the retention of volatile solids through the use of monthly assessments.
IV.A. Baseline methane emissions from anaerobic storage/treatment systems: BECH4,AS,y (CO2e)

Enter the volatile solid excretion (VS in,L ) value for each livestock category (done automatically) . For operations in which there is only one anaerobic storage/treatment
system, the calculation tool will render every other table blank. The van't Hoff-Arrhenius equation (f), monthly volatile solid available for degradation (VS avail ) daily volatile
solid excretion (VS deg ) and baseline methane emissions from anaerobic storage/treatment systems (BE CH4,AS,y ) are automatically calculated using the VS in,L values and
information provided by the user in Worksheet III. The BE CH4,AS,y values are then automatically summed for each livstock category and anaerobic system component. Lastly,
the total BE CH4,AS,y values are automatically calculated and expressed in metric tons (MT) and carbon dioxide equivalents (CO2e). Important: Refer to additional instructions
on worksheet IV regarding periodic removal of solids from anaerobic treatment/storage system.


Worksheet V: Baseline methane emissions from non-anaerobic storage/treatment systems

The calculation procedure for methane emissions from non-anaerobic storage/treatment systems is less intensive than that for anaerobic systems. It reflects basic biological
principles of methane production from available volatile solids, determines methane generation for each livestock category, and accounts for the extent to which the waste
management system handles each category‟s manure.

All values will be automatically drawn from Worksheet III. Tables without a treatment/storage system component heading should be left blank. The population (P L,y ),

VI.A. Total methane emissions by livestock category (L)
The total baseline methane emissions are automatically summed for each livestock category using calculated values from Worksheets IV and V, providing a summary of the
earlier calculations for emissions due to anaerobic and non-anaerobic storage/treatment component systems. The emissions are expressed in metric tons (MT) and carbon
dioxide equivalents (C02e). No data needs to be input here.

VI.B. Total methane emissions by methane component (S)
The baseline methane emissions are automatically summed for each storage and treatment component system using calculated values from Worksheets IV and V. The
calculated values are expressed in metric tons (MT) and carbon dioxide equivalents (C02e).


VI.C. Total baseline methane

The total annual baseline methane emissions for the entire project are automatically calculated, combining the baseline methane emissions from anaerobic storage/treatment
systems (BE CH4,AS,y ) calculated in Worksheet IV and baseline methane emissions from non-anaerobic storage/treatment systems (BE CH4,nAS,y ) calculated in Worksheet V.

IMPORTANT: The total removal of solids from the baseline anaerobic storage/treatment system zeros-out the VS remaining from the previous month (column G below). The project developer is

Table XII.A: Manure management system components

                  System                                                                                     Definition

Pasture/Range/ Paddock                         The manure from pasture and range grazing animals is allowed to lie as deposited, and is not managed.
Daily spread                                   Manure is routinely removed from a confinement facility and is applied to cropland or pasture within 24 hours of excretion.

Solid storage                                  The storage of manure, typically for a period of several months, in unconfined piles or stacks. Manure is able to be stacked
                                               due to the presence of a sufficient amount of bedding material or loss of moisture by evaporation.

Dry lot                                        A paved or unpaved open confinement area without any significant vegetative cover where accumulating manure may be
                                               removed periodically.
Liquid/Slurry                                  Manure is stored as excreted or with some minimal addition of water in either tanks or earthen ponds outside the animal
                                               housing, usually for periods less than one year.
Uncovered anaerobic lagoon                     A type of liquid storage system designed and operated to combine waste stabilization and storage. Lagoon supernatant is
                                               usually used to remove manure from the associated confinement facilities to the lagoon. Anaerobic lagoons are designed with
                                               varying lengths of storage (up to a year or greater), depending on the climate region, the volatile solids loading rate, and
                                               other operational factors. The water from the lagoon may be recycled as flush water or used to irrigate and fertilize fields.

Pit storage below animal confinements          Collection and storage of manure usually with little or no added water typically below a slatted floor in an enclosed animal
                                               confinement facility, usually for periods less than one year.
Anaerobic digester                             Animal excreta with or without straw are collected and anaerobically digested in a large containment vessel or covered
                                               lagoon. Digesters are designed and operated for waste stabilization by the microbial reduction of complex organic
                                               compounds to CO2 and CH4, which is captured and flared or used as a fuel.

Burned for fuel                                The dung and urine are excreted on fields. The sun dried dung cakes are burned for fuel.
Cattle and Swine deep bedding                  As manure accumulates, bedding is continually added to absorb moisture over a production cycle and possibly for as long as
                                               6 to 12 months. This manure management system also is known as a bedded pack manure management system and may be
                                               combined with a dry lot or pasture.
Composting – in-vessel*                        Composting, typically in an enclosed channel, with forced aeration and continuous mixing.
Composting – Static pile*                      Composting in piles with forced aeration but no mixing.
Composting – Intensive windrow*                Composting in windrows with regular (at least daily) turning for mixing and aeration.
Composting – Passive windrow*                  Composting in windrows with infrequent turning for mixing and aeration.
Aerobic treatment                              The biological oxidation of manure collected as a liquid with either forced or natural aeration. Natural aeration is limited to
                                               aerobic and facultative ponds and wetland systems and is due primarily to photosynthesis. Hence, these systems typically
                                               become anoxic during periods without sunlight.
*Composting is the biological oxidation of a solid waste including manure usually with bedding or another organic carbon source typically at thermophilic temperatures produced by
microbial heat production.
