                                   JOB DESCRIPTION

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being

JOB TITLE:                    ADMINISTRATIVE ASST. II

DEPARTMENT:                   Sheriff’s
JOB CODE:                     401-08-52
PAY STATUS:                   FLSA Non-Exempt
PAY RANGE:                    $10.00 per hour

JOB SUMMARY:

Under general direction of the designated supervisor perform a variety of moderately complex
clerical functions directly related to the administrative office.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
   1. Provides administrative support and/or clerical duties for the department.
   2. Provides front-line assistance and direction for visitor inquiries and concerns.
   3. Answer multi-line telephone, transfer calls and take messages.
   4. Open and distribute incoming mail and run postage machine for outgoing mail.
   5. Make copies and assemble material for distribution.
   6. Type file labels, forms and other materials requiring basic typing and word processing
       skills.
   7. Respond to request for department-related information from the public or other County
      departments.
   8. Prepare documents, correspondence, and reference material by which administrative
       decisions may be based.
   9. May run various errands, as required, for the operating unit.
   10. Performs other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
     High school diploma or GED certificate.
     Two (2) years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities
     specified.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
     Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with others.
     Database and records management skills.
     Skill in the use of personal computers and related software.
     Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

LICENSURES AND CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Valid New Mexico driver’s license.

OTHER CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
    Ability to perform essential functions and adapt to working conditions.
    No history or pattern of reckless driving, DWI/DUI or irresponsible driving in the last
    five years.
    No history of felony misdemeanor conviction involving moral turpitude, violence,
    distribution of controlled substance or dishonesty.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
    Work is typically performed in an interior office environment.
    Work involves minimal exposure to physical risk.
    Little or no significant physical effort required to perform duties.
