ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY: The person filling this position will provide analytical support in assessing U.S. and global energy markets in depth, as part of a small, nationally recognized team. The team’s primary function is to assist in publishing weekly and monthly reports for Energy Business Watch (URL: www.energybusinesswatch.com ) -- a nationally re-known cutting edge Energy Market Advisory Service deeply respected within the energy industry and relied upon by major energy users and policy-makers. Its publisher, Andy Weissman, is a well known visionary and energy industry expert who provides unique insights into key market drivers, how energy markets function and energy supply and demand. He has a long track record of anticipating major energy market trends months or even years before other experts based upon his deep knowledge and understanding of these markets and the path-breaking analytical techniques Energy Business Watch applies. Subscribers to Energy Business Watch include some of the best-known financial institutions, hedge funds, energy producers and energy traders in the U.S. as well as government officials. The person hired for this position, who should have strong academic credentials, also will assist from time-totime in providing other strategic consulting services offered by FTI relating to climate change, strategic business decisions, the economic impact of major energy market dislocations and other issues. The position provides a unique opportunity to become fully versed in the far-reaching implications for national energy and environmental policy of the profound changes occurring in the industry, working closely with one of the leading experts in the field. PRIMARY DUTIES: • • • • Provide analytic support to the Energy Business Watch energy research team. Create and maintain Excel-based models and databases used to assess energy markets, the potential impact of climate change requirements and other issues. Assist in preparing charts and graphs generated using Excel. Develop expertise on specific issues affecting the U.S. and global energy markets. • • • • Apply this expertise by working with other team members to assess energy supply, demand and prices for natural gas, oil, coal and electricity. Prepare write-ups of specific issues for use in Energy Business Watch and/or other projects. Contribute to consulting projects undertaken by FTI. Respond to special project requests and inquiries. SKILLS REQUIRED: • • • • • Bachelor’s degree in economics, statistics, finance, accounting, energy or environmental studies, natural resources, geology or related fields. Excellent data and analytical skills. Strong writing capability. Substantial experience applying Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Experience in developing and applying Excel-based models and databases. SKILLS PREFERRED: • • • • Energy-related experience (coursework, internship, etc.) Report writing experience Ability to work well in a team oriented environment providing ideas and open feedback. Experience using Adobe InDesign and Illustrator (used to prepare reports). EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: • • . Must have a B.S. or a B.A. undergraduate degree. SKILLS REQUIRED: • • • • Enrolled in undergraduate program in economics, statistics, finance, accounting, environmental studies, geology or related fields with strong academic record. Excellent data and analytical skills. Substantial experience applying Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Solid writing skills. SKILLS PREFERRED: • • • Energy-related experience (coursework, internship, etc.) Experience with Adobe InDesign and Illustrator. Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
