                               Volume 3, Issue 2
                                         November 2003

How to get the most from your chamber membership!
So, you’ve joined the Chamber—now what?

Get involved—in a committee, a program, sponsor an event. Whatever you do, get in-
volved. You will have the opportunity to meet many different people. Some may turn
into a customer, some may turn into a vendor, and some may turn into a friend!

I’ve talked to many members of the Chamber—some who have received a lot of business
from other Chamber members, others who may have received some and still others who
                                   Net Works!
maybe haven’t received much at all. People and companies join the Chamber for differ-
ent reasons. There are members that have joined the Chamber to get visibility for their
organization or to be supportive of the local community and if they get business in addi-

tion to that, that’s great, but that was not their main reason for joining. Others join for
the networking opportunities to make key business contacts to grow their own business.
Whatever your reason for joining, know why you joined and what you need to do to get
the return on the investment you desire. If it’s to grow your business by making contacts
with possible customers, you need to be active and involved.

Here are just a few committees that are available. If you find one that interests you, con-

tact the chairperson of that committee to learn more. At the very least, attend our after

                                                         members and guests!

Business Expo - This group works on all aspects of our Business Expo that will be held
on September 9 at the Sheraton Milwaukee Brookfield. This showcase of area
businesses is for everyone—whether you sell a product or service, sell business to
business or sell to the end use consumer! The committee works with other Chamber
members to secure exhibitors as well as focusing on drawing attendees to the event.
The event is free to attend and open to the public. Contact Brad Fenzl at 262-717-6022.

A Few Words From Our President - Judi Murphy

Volunteerism and The Chamber
yourdictionary.com defines “volunteer” as “a person who performs or offers to perform a service voluntarily; to do
charitable or helpful work without pay”. What better way to enhance your company’s public relations and good-
will - become a volunteer at the Chamber!

The Greater Brookfield Chamber of Commerce affords its members diverse opportunities for volunteer and com-
mittee work. We encourage a representative from each member organization to volunteer on at least one commit-
tee. This committee work can expand your network of prospects and clients as well as your Chamber visibility.
Your time commitment is minimal and can be rewarding, and fun.

We welcome and value new committee members. Here is a list of our Chamber committees and contact people;
call or email them to talk about becoming involved.
Ambassadors Club – Ted Kieper Economic Development Committee – Bob Anger
Golf Outing Committee – Mike Noll, Chad Schultz Retention Committee – Jon Wojciechowski
Program Committee – Linda Bell Business Expo – Brad Fenzl
A.B.L.E. – Chad Schultz Annual Dinner & Fundraiser – Judi Murphy
Manufacturing/Industrial Council – Bill Bulloch Legislative Committee – Jim Kurtz

The Chamber needs your involvement – your company needs the visibility!
