Name: Danny Zerkel
Class of works: I am writing in support of Class #1 (Copy-Protected CDs):
Sound recordings released on compact disc ("CDs") that are protected by
technological protection measures that malfunction so as to prevent access on
certain playback devices.
Summary:
Disc name: Bloodflowers by The Cure
CD, as purchased, had "extra" stuff (i.e., both multimedia data and audio) on
it that prevented by office computer from playing the music. I attempted to
make a copy of the CD without the extra stuff, but was unsuccessful because of
the copy protection. The only reason I buy CDs is to listen to them at work,
occasionally at home or in my car. Since the problem occurred, the number of
CDs I buy has gone way down. I don't think I bought any new CDs last year. I
don't steal music; I buy what I like, when I can afford it.
