  From the Pastor’s Desk

Dear beloved in Christ,
Greetings in the name of Jesus!!

We are now in midst of a hot summer. The temperature is soaring higher and higher. Keep
cool and stay healthy. Some of our church members are traveling to India in August. Let us keep them in
our prayers and ask God to grant them travel mercies. Many of our children will be going back to schools this
month. I just want to wish our children God’s blessings. May the Lord be with them and crown them with
success in their studies.

I would like to highlight some of our upcoming programs. We are going to have our “Annual
Fall Concert” on September 10(Saturday) at 5 p.m. The conveners of this program are Mr. Bobby Benjamin,
Mr. Stanley Sigamani & Mr. Jason Thomas. Those who wish to render special music please contact one of
the conveners. Plans are underway for our 2nd “Annual Church Revival Meeting” to be held on September
24th & 25th. Brother Stanley of “Blessing Youth Mission”, a well known speaker in India will be our main
speaker. Kindly remember these meetings in your prayers. In conjunction with the Revival, we are planning
to organize a “Mission Conference” in Philadelphia on September 17th. Please keep these dates free to
attend the meetings. A detailed program will be sent to you by the convener Dr. Bright Densingh. I am sure
God will continue to bring revival in our church. The Sunday School is planning to arrange a one day picnic
for children and parents on 13th August. All those who wish to join please contact Mrs. Madhu Luther. Let me
also remind you that we need your prayers, support and cooperation as we work hard to buy/ build a church
building for AICC.

Let me share with you some thoughts I read in a magazine recently. It is really very interesting !!

A basketball in my hands is worth about $19.
A basketball in Michael Jordan’s hands is worth about $33 million.

                                   A rod in my hands will keep away a wild animal;
A rod in Moses’ hands will part a sea.

                                         A sling slot in my hands is a kid’s toy;
A sling slot in David’s hands is a mighty weapon.

                      Two fish & five loaves of bread in my hands is a couple of fish sandwiches;
Two fish & five loaves of bread in God’s hands will feed thousands.

                                    Nails in my hands might produce a birdhouse;
Nails in Christ’s hands made salvation available for the entire world.

As you see, it depends on whose hands things are in. So put your concerns, your worries, your fears, your
hopes, your dreams, your future plans, your families and your relationships in God’s hands.
May the Peace, Joy & Mercy of the Lord be with you .
Yours in His service
Christopher Solomon

REPORT:AICC Family Retreat – July 2005 Submitted by Ainsha Enose
Just in case if you missed the AICC annual retreat here it is again with its theme: Growing in Grace, held on
July 8th and 9th at Liebenzell Retreat Center, Long Valley NJ. Scores of AICC family members attended both
days - amazingly we had very active members of all age groups, which made the retreat a memorable event.

Mrs. Sunitha Immanuel fueled the evening session with worship and entertainment. The campers set up the
campfire at night and sparkled the moment with a lively ‘anthakshari’. Following which our retreat folks lodged
in tents, their home’s and the retreat center that night.

The next day Rev B.B.C Kumar conducted the morning devotion. Rev Dr David Ravinder our chief guest
involved us in the process of Grace. Grace is a free gift of God and he elaborated three points from John
Wesley’s theology of grace, which are
Prevenient Grace – Unasked favor or mercy
Justifying Grace – Forgiving grace and restoring our relationship with God
Sanctifying Grace –Lifetime process of being led by the Holy Spirit

Men, Women and Youth groups had discussions on the highlights of the theme. Men gathered under the tree
shade, women stayed in the main Beachtree building and the youth made themselves comfortable on the
deck. Discussion leaders for each group presented a summary of their discussion.

Children were involved in crafts, songs, dance, learning and they presented skit on Jonah. All participants
attended the Bible quiz - conducted by Mrs. Preethi Kumar for the Adults, Mr. Solomon Karunakaran for
Youth and Mrs. Madhu Luther for Children. The winners are as follows:
Youth: Allen, Geri, Prem, Jonathan, Padmini, Jojo
Children: Ryan Kishore, Sitara Kishore & Kevin Sithersingh
Adult: Vijie Deivanayagam, Erin Ainsha & Elizabeth Jayaraj

Rev. Dr. David Ravinder wrapped up the retreat with a closing devotion.
Everyone enjoyed the evening games, in spite of the rain that could not dampen our spirits!

“ We can witness and see astounding Splendors in our own life’ How?
We as human beings in this world are powerless, as we are weakened by the misdeeds of the body and its
sinful nature. We blindly think our Lord god Jesus will never respond to our prayers. However, with a sense
of faith, truth and trust in Jesus Christ, wonders will happen in our lives.

When a sick woman heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak.
Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering
(Mark 5: 27 and 29)

Simon the fisherman toiled throughout the night fishing alas!
He could not get anything. He was deeply disappointed. Jesus Christ saw this and instructed Simon to put
his fishing nets into deep water for a haul. He immediately obeyed the Jesus command and let down the
nets into deep waters. They caught a great number of fish to their astonishment and their nets were
breaking. Simon obeyed God’s command and reaped the blessings of life by becoming his first disciple.
(Luke 5:5)

According to John 2:1, Jesus and his disciples had been invited to a wedding at Cana, in Galilee. There
was no wine and Jesus Christ instructed the servants to fill six water pots with water.

The servants immediately responded with obedience. The water turned into wine! This was the first of Jesus
Christ’s miraculous signs. If we follow and obey Him faithfully we can witness astounding and amazing
wonders in our homes.

Nowadays many people are in anguish and pain - homeless, rejected and poor. The Holy Bible says, Jesus
Christ preached the goods news of his kingdom while healing every disease and sickness among the
people. He is our watchword. His word brings mercy to the suffering lot. His utterances are like armor and
shield to our suffering lives. One of his famous teachings found in the Holy Bible - Matthew 5:5, is amazing.

The world is darkened and bound by restless things. We are faced with raging storms in our day- to-day
lives. If we are to follow Jesus Christ teachings sincerely, we are saved from the onslaught of storms in our
lives. The Eternal father will be merciful to us, His grace and favor is sure to shield us from the sins of this

According to the Holy Bible, Daniel 3, King Nebuchadnezzar made an image of gold, ninety feet high, and
nine feet wide and placed it on the plain of Dura, to be worshipped by entire royal court and the people of
the country. The Jews, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego refused to worship king’s idol. Furious with rage,
Nebuchadnezzar summoned all three and admonished them. He ordered his soldiers to put them to death in
the blazing furnace. Then God appeared as a fourth man and saved Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego
from the blazing furnace. God not only saved them from the worst situation, but also promoted them with
greater rewards. Their strong faith in God was rewarded.

Michael, Jesudha, Kevin & Rachel Sithersingh

Michael Sithersingh belongs to Meignanapuram in southern Tamil Nadu and he is the eldest son of
Mr. & Mrs. Michael John Moses. He has three younger sisters; all are married and settled in Tamil
Nadu. His parents were teachers and also his father was serving the Lord in a small way by working
as a Catechist in small village churches in Tirunelveli Diocese. Michael obtained B.Sc. in Chemistry
from Madurai Kamaraj University and completed M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry from Aligarh Muslim
University. He is pursuing his PhD in Analytical Chemistry from Seton Hall University in New Jersey.

Jesudha Sithersingh is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Y.E Solomons. Her family belongs to a small village
called North Vagaikulam located close to Rajapalayam in Tamil Nadu. She was born and raised in
Bombay where her father worked as an Administrative Manager for a private company and her mother
worked as a nurse for a government hospital. She got her B.Com and M.Com degrees from Bombay
University. Her only younger brother is married and settled in Bombay..

After their marriage in September 1993 they moved to Muscat, Oman where Michael was working in a
perfumery company. Kevin was born in Bombay on June, 1994. The family moved to Toronto, Canada
in January, 1995. Rachel was born in July 1998 in Toronto, Canada. The family moved to New Jersey
in February 2002. They came to know about the AICC through the Religious Events column in an
Indian community newspaper and started attending the AICC from June 2004.

Michael’s hobbies are listening to old Tamil Christian songs & classical music, reading biography
about great saints and watching TV programs on world history. Jesudha enjoys reading and
gardening. Kevin’s & Rachel’s hobbies are riding their bikes, playing video games and watching kid’s
    programs on the TV.

We like the inspiring messages given by Pastors Christopher Solomon and Kumar and the
heartrending songs played by our worship team during the Sunday service. Our Lord has been very
good to us and showered us with countless blessings.

“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the
    Lord for ever” Psalm 23 : 6

In conclusion, if we obey His teachings restless waves will disappear from our lives. Mighty blessings are
definite to flow. Fire and foe will disappear. Peace and prosperity will flourish.

“ Do not be afraid stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today.” Exodus 14:14

“ May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with
you all.” II Cor 13:14

Our family consists of Mr. Joseph Jayaraj Thomas, who was born at 77o 11’E Longitude and 8o
18’N latitude (look it up); Mrs. Padmaja Jean Thomas, born in Nagercoil, Kanyakumari District;
Benita Jean Thomas and Jason Ross Thomas, who were both born in Manhattan, N.Y.; and
Brownie Thomas, the family cat born in E. Brunswick NJ. Jayaraj and Jean came to the United
States in 1971 and 1974, respectively, and then our family moved to our present home in East
Brunswick, NJ in 1980.

Jayaraj worked for Verizon (formerly Bell Atlantic which was formerly Nynex which was formerly
NY Bell Telephone company formerly part of AT&T) for 31 years, and retired 2 years ago. He
enjoys window-shopping at hardware stores. Jean has been looking after the family, and is always
a dependable assistant for Jayaraj’s projects in his home workshop, searching out misplaced tools
etc. Jean also tends a vegetable garden every summer. Benita and Michael Bennett Jarrell were
married in AICC this past May. They had known each other from the Christian fellowship at Ross
University, where they have both graduated medical school. They now live and work in Miami, FL,
and they enjoy doing outdoor activities, traveling, and cooking. Jason is attending college for a
biotechnology degree and is working part-time. He would like to do forensics once he completes
his studies.

As a family, we all love music. Jean and Jayaraj both like to sing in the choir. Jean taught Benita
and Jason how to play the organ while they were young. Benita later learned violin and Jason
learned clarinet and guitar, and they were able to use their talents at AICC. Namely, Benita as an
Organist, and Jason in Operation Jericho and the Praise and Worship team. Mike (Michael) likes to
play music, too, except his instrument is the radio!

Jayaraj had a request from India to checkout and size up a young man for a marriage alliance. The
place for rendezvous was AICC. This was Jayaraj’s first visit to AICC. The meeting went on well,
but then Jayaraj ended up getting wedded to AICC. God works in mysterious ways!

We started attending AICC in 1992, and have enjoyed regular fellowship with the other families
who worship together. We especially appreciate the dedication of the pastors, and the Word that is
brought to us every Sunday. During the fellowship hour, we have come to know many people of
the family of Christ, and since we are each part of the body, we realize that no one member can
exist on our own.

We are thankful to God for guiding and taking care of us all these years and all His mercies and
blessings of which AICC is not the least.

A Trip to the Creation Festival
@ Mount Union, Agape Farm in Pennsylvania Submitted by Mike David

The Creation festival was held from June 29 – July 2 and the youth of AICC (S.A.L.T) attended this festival on July 2
from 11.00 to 7.00 in the evening. Here are some impressions from Mike David, one of the eight members who
attended the festival.

Well, we all had to wake up around 5 am and meet at Solomon’s house at 6am. Around
6:45am. we departed in two cars, as there were eight of us were going. The drive there took approx. 4 hrs.
It was long and tiring but definitely worth it! As soon as we got there, we tried to find a spot to sit and listen
to the speakers and the bands up on stage. The first speaker we heard was really inspirational. He had
been involved with the mafia, gone through a number of bad experiences including jail and even close to
death. He taught us that God is the only one we can truly trust and believe in, and without Him there is
absolutely no other way.

There were a lot of shopping stands selling everything - from shirts to bumper stickers to
CDs and cassettes. Each shirt had a creative phrase about God or Jesus which could be personalized. Of
course, the girls got stuck in the jewelry store!

In the afternoon, different sessions were conducted in the woods with messages on topics
such as ‘The American Idol’, ‘iPods’, ‘Low Carbs’, ‘Oprah and Jesus’, ‘Defining your Life Art’, ‘What’s So
Wrong With Gay Marriage’ etc. We landed in the woods where the message on ‘Defining your Life Art’ was
given by a former musician and was asked the question – So What do you want to do with your life? Do you
have a vision, a focus, a mission on what you desire to achieve in your life – which really got us thinking.

The bands we heard were very talented as well. The hip-hop groups humored us by
repeating "mic check 1, 2" over and over and over again. Then there was this young talented, and all the
guys agree with me on this one, GORGEOUS singer named Joy. (Not only was her music nice to hear, her
smile was nice too ha,ha!) Overall it was a fun and uplifting event. The food was just simple burger and
hotdogs for lunch, then on the journey back we stopped and had some Roy Rogers chicken and burgers.
Hopefully next year it’s not as hot and maybe we can all go in one big van or an RV, it'll be more fun that

Construction of any building requires a cornerstone. Jesus is our cornerstone to build our lives. We have to
build our foundation on Jesus. Construction requires a model and a blueprint. Jesus is the model of perfection.
The best blueprint will be produced by the one who design the building. Jesus is the one who created us in his
own image. No one other than Jesus can produce the best blueprint to build our lives. The best instructions
(blueprint) to build our lives are his words in the Holy Bible. We have to follow the instructions which are in the
Bible. We need to read the Bible to follow God’s instructions. We should talk to Jesus everyday by prayer for
his guidance. We should lean on Jesus for everything.
Let us build our character like Jesus by obeying our parents, by loving others, by caring poor, and by forgiving
others. Let us ask God to help us to build these characters in us.

lap that can hold at least four children at a time, a kiss that can cure anything from a scraped knee to a broken
heart, and she must be able to talk on the telephone, cook, scold a child and pet the dog all at the same time
with only two hands."
The angel was astounded. "No way! Only two hands!"
"Yes," the Lord said. "And that's just the standard model."
The angel moved in for a closer look and touched the woman. "Lord, you've made her so soft."
"Yes, she is soft," the Lord agreed. "But she is also tough! You have no idea what she can do, endure, or
The angel noticed something and reached out to touch the woman's cheek."Oops! You've put so much in her,
she is starting to leak, Lord. I told you, you were putting too much in this one."
"That's not a leak, that's a tear."
"What's that for?" the angel inquired.
The Lord whispered, "Her tears are the way she will express her joy, her sorrow, her pain, her disappointment,
her love, her loneliness, her grief and her pride. It is a symbol of her heart."
The angel was impressed. "You are a genius,Lord. You've thought of everything. This woman you are making is
truly amazing, is she not?"
With all the pride of a brand-new father, the Lord said, "Oh yes she is! Women have strengths that will amaze
men."They bear hardships and carry burdens, but they will, at the same time, hold happiness, love and joy.
They will smile when they want to scream.Sing when they want to cry. They cry when they are happy and
laugh when they are nervous. They fight for those they love and all that they believe in. They stand up for
injustice and remain seated in humility. They will not take no for an answer when they know there is a better
way. They will go without so that their family, particularly the children can have what they need. They will go to
the doctor with a frightened friend. They will go to court with a wayward husband. They love unconditionally
often, asking for and taking little in return. They cry when their children excel and cheer when their friends are
rewarded. They are happy to hear about a birth, knowing the difficulties that may lie ahead. They cheer
because they will help a friend through it all.Their hearts break when someone dies yet, they are strong when
others may think there is no strength left. They know that a hug and a kiss can heal a broken heart and, they
will offer them to anyone who needs one. It is the heart of a woman that will keep the world turning and things
in order. They have the babies because men could never figure out how to put so much in such a small space.
Women bring hope and joy. They bring compassion and ideals. They are the moral support that keeps the
family of humanity together. They ask very little and offer all they have?that's their one flaw."
"What flaw?" asked the angel.
Sadly, the Lord responded, "They seem to always forget their worth.“ – Author Unknown
